Meeting
called to order at 11:05 by Nanette, CVPO president, with
welcome and introductions.
: Treasurer Susie stated the CVPO has had a good membership response with $3830.00 in
voluntary dues coming in to CVPO and an extra $170.00 in
donations through the Corvallis Public Schools Foundation. The treasurer report
for September showed $98.88 in expense for printing costs and a balance of
$6096.67 as of 9/30/09. The report was accepted as written.
: our secretary is out ill. Please
refer to the CV web site for last month’s minutes: http://www2.corvallis.k12.or.
: "Thank you volunteers for
your time and efforts at CV!"Cheslah talked about the CVPO
committee chair openings available: Corresponding secretary, Spring Conference
Dinner Coordinator, Teacher Appreciation Lunch Chair. For ways to get involved
and volunteer at CV please fill out a pink volunteer form and a ‘criminal
history verification’ now required yearly. These are available at the
front office. Contact Amy the volunteer coordinator at mybrtsz@yahoo.com for
further questions.
Angie
Killen has stepped forward to be our Corresponding secretary. Thanks Angie!
Committee: Susie stated that the
committee to review teacher grant requests is seeking a parent from each grade
level. Susanne Taylor volunteered to be on this committee, joining those who
have stepped forward over the past month: Nanette Armstrong, Susie Zaremba,
Toni Doolen, Patrice Thomas, and Kristen Emminger. Susie noted that CVPO has $4000 in the budget this year to spend on teacher
grants, and asked the members to determine "how much shall we allot this
Fall and how much for the Spring?" It was moved, seconded and passed to
spend up to $3000 this Fall cycle for teacher grants. The application deadline
for Teacher Grants is Oct. 30. The Grants Committee will meet in early November
to review the applications and recommend which grant requests to fund, then
will bring their recommendations to the November CVPO
meeting for approval.
Katherine,
fundraiser chair, shared that the school foundation had a record number of
grant requests this year with CVHS well represented. The CVPO
purposely sets its grant cycle to come after the public schools foundations’
grant cycle. With no district-wide money for technology this year due to budget
cuts we expect to see more CVPO grant requests.
Hewlett-Packard matching funds program is still in place. This opens Nov. 1.
This program is projected to get 30 notebooks on a cart for the Humanities
room. This is separate from other grants. Thank you HP!
Magic Show, a school district-wide
fundraiser is Oct. 29, 7:00 pm. Nanette reminded everyone that tickets are
available at the front desk or contact her at nyarmstrong@comcast.net.
