Goal A:  By June 2009, Crescent Valley High School will accomplish significant gains in student achievement in reading, writing and math for students falling beneath the 10th grade benchmark        
A1: For students who enter high school without having met the 8th grade benchmark, develop a pathway of courses in math and English that enables the students to meet district Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) targets. Positive New Courses: Read 180- Students below benchmark will take in fall semester, and progress to Intro to Lit or another term of Read 180;  1st 180 semester is an elective credit.

Math: Students below benchmark place into MathLab or Pre-Algebra- will be followed up with next level of math, for 2 credits of math. New Course- Applied Mathematics offers third year option for kids not ready for geometry or algebra 2.

Read 180 assessment throughout term-100% readiness to move on.

A2: Students falling below the 8th grade level benchmarks will be required to use unassigned time, including study hall, for academic support, to develop literacy skills as measured by district MAP targets. Positive Guided study hall piloted in 2008 with positive results; Expand in 2008/2009 as budget will allow, this is a budget priority.  Informally expanded this year, would like more staff assigned next year. All 9th/10th grade students who need it placed in guided study hall  ($ funding needed); and all students passing classes.
Goal B: By June 2009,. Crescent Valley High School will be more deliberate in how it assesses and monitors progress of all student.        
B1 Develop and implement consistent, departmental assessment systems to monitor student learning progress. On Hold '07-'08

Departments developed department goals in 07/08 and will work to review and implement in 08/09.
District has agreed to MAP, OAK and TORF for common assessment.
Assess all 9th graders (exl. Honors) via TORF 4/08.
Each department should have one common assessment to measure student progress.
B2 Provide consistent, regularly scheduled time for CV staff to align and develop curriculum and assessments both vertically and horizontally.  (Ideal would be a late start (90 min) two days a month). Positive Each department met with staff both vertically (MS to HS) and horizontally (both HS's) to design district curriculum guides.

Five half days scheduled to apply to this within the building; without altering student schedules.
Professional development days structured so departments will have time to fully develop curriculum and assessments.  Target: 20 hrs in school year
Goal C:  Crescent Valley High School will offer learning paths that are relevant to student interests and post secondary goals.        
C1 Continue to develop and implement courses, activities, and experiences that reflect students’ interests as identified by Personal Education Plans (PEP). Positive Eight new courses offered: Recording Engineering and Mixing, Intro to Comp. Prog thru Game Design, Oracle Databases,Coro Vivo, AP Chem, European Culture and History, German 3, advanced topics in spanish literature and expanded visual arts through studio technician, Cadet teaching and internships. Offer one section in each of the new courses. Build CTE pathway.
C2 Develop a plan to implement the new high school graduation portfolio as reflected in the “2006 CV New Graduation Requirement Articulation Matrix” (see matrix in appendix 1),  which includes the following: Positive Developed Career learning team- articulated 4 year plan for each student; transcript linked and trackable via advisor, and activities integrated into the core curriculum at each grade level.  Advisor grade is attached to the completion. Career Learning: 100% of students complete all activities and get advisor credit.  Extended Application opportunties expanded.

Goal D:  Increase student learning for targeted populations to include English Language Learners (ELL), alternative education, special education and underachieving students.        
D1  By fall 2007 recommend a core curriculum for English Language Development (ELD) to the district.  Completed Chose Edge- Research based, sheltered instruction modelby Susan Dutro. Completed
D2  Implement new curriculum within 3 months of availability .  Edge was chosen Positive Piloted EDGE in Fall 2007;  Began structuring course with scheduled access.  Began thinking about cultural barriers to access. Priority scheduling for those students who are ELD for Edge curriuculum; Goal 100% access
D3  Establish a research-based ELD program involving students of limited English proficiency in a rigorous program focused on increasing their abilities in reading, writing, speaking and listening as assessed by ELPA (English Language Proficiency Assessment). Positive Implemented; scheduling is challenge.  Need more teachers trained in sheltered instruction. Goal: 10 teachers trained in sheltered instruction via district.
D4 By fall 2007, include all special education, remedial and alternative education populations in systematic assessment to evaluate student learning via MAP(including math). Completed All targeted population ID'd in Goal 4 assessed via MAP in '07-08. Ongoing
D5 By June 2008, develop a system to identify underachieving students for intervention strategies. Positive Implemented via academic progress through grade reports. Implementing TORF for all 9th grade students (excluding honors students). Have continuum of intervention articulated. Every identified student will have an appropriate intervention.
D6  For all underachieving students, develop individualized intervention strategies that are part of the student’s daily school schedule.  These may include assignment to study hall, academic support programs, and or peer tutors.   see above see above
Goal E:  Achieve at least a 95% participation rate in the Oregon State Assessment Test every year.        
E1 Establish a schedule, by instructor, to ensure the participation of all 10th grade students within the testing windows. Positive Met this goal in 2007 at over 98%; Computer Lab availability; investigate use of other labs for testing. All computer labs ready and accessbile for testing.
E2 By June 2007, create a system to ensure all absent or new students to CV participate in state testing. Completed Implemented spreadsheet tracking system managed by an assessment coordinator, and reviewed by administrative staff.  Met goal in 2006/07 at 98% participation. 100% tested --on-going
Goal F:  Establish activities to enable students a better transition into and out of high school.        
F1  By fall 2007, implement Link Crew program for entering freshmen in order to: Positive Accomplished, on-going thoughout year. Improve the connection between 9th graders and upper class students. Didn't develop link class.  Yr. 1 analysis and improvements underway Every Freshman assigned a Link leader.  Expand number of opportunties for connection.

F2 Implement an articulated curriculum for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade advisor, with a focus specific to the developmental needs of each grade level.  This will help to fulfill the state graduation requirements for each student. (See appendix 2 for graduation requirements) Completed Implemented this year.  Teachers trained and brought on board. Program includes link on website to inform parents.  Helping in meeting all state graduation requirements. Continue progress.
F3  By fall 2007, develop and implement a “9th grade transition” social studies elective class focused on understanding and meeting the academic and social needs of students as they enter high school. Completed Freshman Focus Piloted.  Reviewing and adjusting the curriculum.  Two teachers trained and teaching. Expand next year.  Establish criteria for students to enroll in the class, and have all students meeting criteria enrolled.
F4  By fall 2008, develop and implement a system of individualized academic support, providing study skills and assignment tracking for identified 9th grade students. Positive Implemented Guided Study Hall, see above Create a schoolwide system of support, including teacher collaboration.
F5  By fall 2008, investigate systems to provide every senior an opportunity to participate in a meaningful community experience, providing a real life application of classroom learning to the real world.  Completed Graduation Requirement.  Constantly expanding those opportunities for those kids. Incorporate opportunities into core curriuculum.  E.g. service learning in 11th grade history, AP Govt- service projects in May.  Meets extended application requirements for '07-'08 Implementing. Continue to fully develop these opportunities.
Goal G: Improve school community relationships and partnerships.        
G1 Create (draft by Sept 2007) and implement (ongoing) a comprehensive communication plan that provides targeted, timely, clear and accessible information to parents, students and teachers via newsletters, emails, website, webgrade, notices list serves. Positive Transitioned to Pinnacle, Implemented New Listserve, Improved Raider News, student submission the raider news improved.  Added a parent component to 8th grade open house.  More people are trained to add information to the website.  Feedback very positive. Improve Parent Coffee attendance; Web Design class will review and implement changes as class project.  Train staff in use of list serve, Develop communication guidelines.  Evaluate use of Pinnacle Emails. G2 By June 2008, explore ways to broaden the partnership opportunities with the business community, through collaborative efforts. Positive Internship programs in Arts, Career Learning, Connections with OSU via Terrell Ross and Athletics.  Invited Mysty Rusk to District career learning. Developing 5 year strategic plan for career and technical education programs. Will work with LBCC and Business partners. Complete and begin implementation of 5 year plan.  Plan due June '08
G3  By June 2008, explore ways to create awareness in the community about the excellence of Crescent Valley High School Positive Reached out to GT leadership, with positive response.  Parent volunteer in charge of relations to the GT, and better system to let them know what is happening.  Brochure in progress.  Web site highlights some of our successes. Plan to address key groups, plan for community/realtor open house.  Brochure available and in community.
G4  By Sept. 2007 Identify and invite an “at-large” member of the business community to be on the CV site council. Negative Will do next year.  Target Realtor. Identified and invited by Sept 2008.
Goal H: NEW:  Positive School Culture      
H1 Diversity   Will do Surveys, Friday Focus groups. Developing an action plan. Working on diversity, special programs during diversity week. Terrell Ross from OSU assisting. Focus on what is needed to be successful in life. Implement Diversity action plan. Expand conversation to students working with kids who are different within the school.
H2 Career related learning:  Timliness   Develop system of accountability for students.
