If we all are safe, respectful and responsible enough to reach the green line on the glass, the school-wide reward will be ONE DAY with an extra 4 minutes added to each of the 6 passing periods throughout the day and being released from 8th period 4 minutes early! You heard correct, that is double the time for passing periods, an extra 4 minutes added to break and lunch, and getting out of school 4 minutes early. So keep up that safe, respectful, and responsible behavior.

Congratulations to Ms. Peterson’s class. Their pig, named “Pig Skinned” won the Pig Race yesterday. They will be enjoying a pizza party next week. Also, congratulations to Mr. Odden’s class and Ms. Smith’s class. Mr. Odden’s pig was chose for best name, “Sir Hubert Von Porkenstein, III”. Mr. Odden’s class wins Root Beer Floats. And Ms. Smith’s pig, named “Hammah Porktana” was selected as best dressed. Hammah Porktana sported stylish jeans, a green feather boa and a spikey yellow hair clip. Ms. Smith’s class wins the Ice Cream Social. Honorable mentin goes to ms. Snyder’s class pig, named “Curtis” and Ms Swenson’s class pig named “Swine Flew”. Thanks to all 5 classes for a super fun race!

Congratulations Linus Pauling students. You did a great job selling magazines this year. The final prizes are this week.The class Pig Races for the highest selling classes will be Tuesday morning (tomorrow) during 1st period in the gym.The 1st period winning classes who will race be there are: Odden, Swenson, Peterson, Smith and Snyder.Be sure to dress your pig in something really cool and give your piggy a fun name.The piggies that are the fastest, best dressed and best-named win parties for their classes.

All tryouts are in the CHS gym. Students and parents also need to complete
paperwork with the Boys and Girls Club before tryouts.
Hopefully you saw the pledge posters for being Drug-Free in the gym yesterday. Today is the last day to sign the pledge poster. Come sign the poster during indoor rec to pledge that you will stay drug-free and get a red ribbon to show you are proud to be drug free!
When you earn a Paws for Pride, make sure you immediately put your name on the card. We have had a large number of Paws spent with no name on them. If a “no name” Paw is drawn at the quarter and end of year drawings, we will have to draw another Paw. That means YOU might have missed out on one of the great prizes!

The LPMS Cross Country team would like students and staff to join us tomorrow morning at Avery Park for the Middle School Northwest Cross Country Challenge. Ten teams including LPMS will be competing in 4 races starting at 11:00. Go Pride.
Hey guys, the Social Responsibilities class has been doing recycling for the past two weeks. We have been finding a lot of gum in the bins lately, and we ask that you don’t put gum in the recycling. We have been noticing the 6th grade hall has had the most gum in the recycling bins. If you want to get rid of your gum, please put it in the trash! Thanks!

The bright yellow cards that Guest Teachers have will be worth triple. That’s right … each Paws for Pride card you receive from a Guest teacher will be worth three Paws when you purchase a reward or privilege. Don’t worry about remembering which Paw is which. These say “Triple Paws for Pride” right on them. So make sure that you are welcoming to our outstanding Guest Teachers and show them how safe, respectful, and responsible the Pride can be!
Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Here’s your chance to sign up for the Corvallis Parks and Recreation 1st Annual Long Board Push Rally! It starts at 10 am on Saturday, October 10th. The course will be 5 miles from Bald Hill to the Skate Park. Cost is $5 to register and helmets are required. Stop by the office for more information.

Listen up all you book lovers and reluctant readers. Come to the library today at lunch and listen to Ms. Miranda talk about some of her favorite books and have a chance to tell others about your favorite books. It is OK to eat your lunch in the library. This may become a regular event for the first Monday of the month.
There will be a Papa's Pizza Fundraiser this evening to benefit the Corvallis Outdoor Experience (Outdoor School). Pick up a flyer in our school office and go out to dinner at Papa's. The Outdoor Experience will receive 50% of the proceeds. Thank you Papa's Pizza for supporting our community!

DANGER! There are dangerous books in the library! This is National Banned Book week and we are celebrating our freedom to read in the library. Have you read a banned book? Come and check out the list of the most frequently challenged books from 2001 to 2008.
