Speaking Checklist: Elementary 

To do your best in each area for speaking, you will want to check each of the boxes.

Ideas and Content:

• It is easy to see what my main ideas are.
• I use details to explain my main ideas.
• I choose ideas and details that interest my listeners.

Organization:

• I have a well-planned beginning.
• The order of my ideas and details is easy to follow.
• I use connections to tie ideas to together.
• I have a well-planned ending.

Language:

• I use a variety of interesting, colorful words to get my message across.
• I choose words that help my audience understand my topic.
• I use words and grammar correctly.

Delivery:

• I look at all of my audience.
• I speak and pronounce words clearly.
• It is easy to listen to my speech. My voice is loud enough, not too fast or slow, and I use feeling to express myself.
• My delivery is smooth with almost no pauses or "and ums."
• I use body language (gestures and facial expressions) to make my message interesting and clear.
