CODE TALKER JOURNAL & ESSAY

Code Talker Reader-Response Journal Part II
Gather your completed reflective journal entries and complete the following two steps:

Step One: Cover  Create a cover for your journal entries using a blank piece of paper.  The cover should be true to the story and characters of the book Code Talker; the materials, colors, illustrations, symbols, etc. chosen for the cover should all be representative of the book.  On the cover, please indicate the novel title, author's name and your name.

Step Two:  Connection Essay In the novel, Ned's life is shaped by the fact he is Navajo and two pivotal events:  attending boarding school and being a code talker.  In an essay, discuss how these two events impacted his life.  What events have made a big impression and transformed your life?  In the same essay discuss how events in your life have made a difference and make a connection to Ned's events.
