CPO Meeting Minutes- June 6, 2008

 

Call to order at 11:07

 

Those in attendance were as follows:  Dawn Granger, Lynn McCurdy, Pattie VonGlahn-Volk, Ellissa Parnon, Patty Wellen, Denise Gerhardstein, Laura King, Heather Willis, Lezli Weeden, Susie Zaremba, Holly Shutta, Ariella Wolf, Deb Killeen, Berni Brew, and Sharna Prasad.

 

CPO presented Dawn Granger with a plant and a certificate in gratitude for her commitment and dedication to making Cheldelin such a wonderful learning environment for students, staff and parents.  Thank you, Dawn!

 

Principal Report:

 

Secretary Report:

The previous month’s meeting minutes were reviewed for approval.  Laura K. referred to the report of CPO spending toward teacher requests and reported that the Humanities Team had thanked CPO for meeting their requests.  After review, a motion was made to approve the past minutes.  The motion was seconded and all were in favor.

 

Treasurer Report:

Lynn M. reported that profits from the Cookie Dough Fundraiser had been received into the CPO account.  Donations toward the 8th Grade Party have exceeded $800.00 at present.  It was decided that due to Lynn’s upcoming trip, Laura K. would write checks toward 8th grade party expenses in lieu of the treasurer.  It was also decided that the treasury report would be updated to include teacher request expenses and submitted for acceptance at September’s meeting.

 

Volunteer Coordinator Report:

Lezli W. reported that volunteer needs for the 8th grade OMSI trip and 8th Grade Party had been met.  Thanks to all the volunteers!

 

Chair Reports:

Eighth Grade Party-  Deb Killeen and Ariella Wolf reported donations in the amount of $890.00.  The estimated budget for the event is $700.00-800.00 with food costs being a variable at this point.  Lynn M. noted that donation money not spent may be donated back to the school by the 8th grade class.  It was reported that information on organizing the 8th Grade Party is being compiled for reference by next year’s party chairs.  A suggestion was made that future 8th grade parents might attend the event (with permission) in order to see how it is set up.

 

 

 

 

New Business:

Calendar-An initial draft of the CPO event calendar for the 2008-2009 school year was distributed for review.  Discussion followed.  It was noted that October is designated as National Disabilities Awareneness Month.

 

CPO Officer Positions- Votes were taken to elect the following individuals for CPO positions during the 2008-2009 school year:  Susie Zaremba- President, Susan Kearns- Vice President, Lynn McCurdy- Treasurer, and Heather Willis- Fundraising Coordinator.  All were in favor.  A complete list of CPO officer, chair and volunteer opportunities was circulated showing current openings and filled positions.  It was suggested that the Student Store be added to the list.  A request was made for attendees to consider volunteering or for names of other interested individuals that could be contacted.
