CPO MEETING MINUTES—OCTOBER 3, 2008
Principal’s report: Principal Harlan reviewed
the 2007/2008 School Report Card from the Oregon Department of Education.
Cheldelin met the Federal
Adequate Yearly Progress rating and was given an overall report card grading of
Strong. The widely anticipated reopening of the track
should happen the week of Oct 6th. The school plans to encourage
walking/exercise by starting a “Marathon Mileage Club”. The idea
is at lunch, for each lap you run/walk you will get a hole punched in your card.
At the end of the year, the boy and girl from each grade
level as well as a staff member who did the most laps will win an iPod shuffle.
Treasurer’s Report: Motion was carried to accept
the October report as presented. Currently there is a total of $5744.00 in our
accounts; checking -
$224.00, Savings Advantage – $5487.00 and Savings Basic - $33.00 It was
also voted on by the executive CPO members during
an August meeting that the rollover amount going forward will now be $2500.00.
Fundraising Report: The magazine drive was a
success. Gross proceeds were in the amount of $24424.74. Net total the school
will receive will be reported
next month after the final accounting. In addition, donations totaling $1530.00
were also received. A committee represented by CPO,
parents, students and staff will determine how best to spend the money.
Magic show featuring Las Vegas Entertainer Garry Carson: The event will be
held at Corvallis High School on Friday Oct 17th, 7:00.
Each ticket is $20.00. Children 7 years old or younger may attend for free with
a paid adult accompanying them. Monies raised will be
held in the Foundation account and it is earmarked for the school technology
upgrade. For tickets contact: Box Office Info 541-750-7990,
email fredrick.kane@corvallis.k12.or.us or stop by the school office.
Cougar Spirit Night: The event will take place on Friday, November 14th. Current
plans are to talk with the leadership students to see
what activities they would like to have that evening. There are thoughts of
having parent/child activities as well as activities for the kids
that don’t involve the parents. It was mentioned that it would be a good
opportunity to advertise the various ways families can support
fundraising efforts at Cheldelin through the various programs such as escrip,
target, box tops, etc.
