DECEMBER 2007 CPO HIGHLIGHTS
CPO guest speaker was Larina Warnock with the Corvallis Public Schools Foundation. She shared about the history and purpose of the foundation and the important role it plays in education. Larina also announced the foundation’s upcoming three-year campaign to raise funds targeted for technology, literacy, art, music and innovative teaching strategies through staff development.
Principal Report:
Track update- The coaching staff is being finalized. Upcoming in January, Dawn will survey parents and students for interest in track and hold a meeting of parents/volunteers.Parents were asked for their continued support of the parking situation in the student pick up lot by parking on the right only. Thank you!
Talent Show and Winter Concert dated were announced.
Student Learning Improvement Plan will be presented at the Jan. meeting of CPO
Site Council will hold its first meeting of the school year in January. CPO will aid in an election process.
Dawn has committed to be in classrooms and the school for 20 hours per week. Parents are asked to make advance appointments through Nancy at 766-4719.
Chair Reports:
Small fundraisers-Campbell Soup labels/Box tops clarification is as follows: Soup labels must include UPC barcode and entire box top coupon within dotted line must be included in order to receive credit.New Business
: 8th grade Humanities team is requesting partial funding from CPO to attend a Mock Congress at La Sells Stewart Center on May 20th and 21st.Calendar- Dates for events to be finalized at January meeting: Book Fair, Cookie Dough Sales and Spring Cougar Spirit Night.
Old Business:
According to a parent survey distributed at Fall Cougar Spirit Night, field trips, staff development and music were the highest priorities for CPO funds.
A committee was formed to revise CPO By-laws
Items to be discussed at Jan. meeting were funding for Mock Congress, upcoming fundraisers, dates for upcoming events, Spring Cougar Spirit Night planning and a future parent survey.
