CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Classroom Community

To make sure this classroom is a safe and welcoming place for ALL students, everyone must contribute to a positive classroom community. Here’s how:

·        Be kind to everyone in the room at all times. No put-downs!

·        Listen to other students' opinions - without judging them.

·        Take a risk – share your opinion with the class.

·        Respect your classmates' personal space and personal possessions.

·        Recognize that everyone has something valuable to contribute!

Readiness & Effort

In order to make the most of our time together, it is important that you come to class ready to learn. Here’s how:

·        Come to class on time every day.

·        Come to class prepared every day:

·        Check the classroom door each day before class to see what you need. Don’t forget your science notebook!

·        Give your best effort every day… This means TRY!

·        Work hard when it’s time to work.

·        Think hard when it’s time to think.

·        Listen hard when it’s time to listen.

Talk to me right away if there is something interfering with your trying... Maybe there’s something I can do to help!

Assignments

In order to succeed in this class, you will need to do work in and out of the classroom. Classwork & homework are both important because they give you a chance to practice what we are learning. Here’s what to do:

·        KEEP YOUR SCIENCE FOLDER NEAT & ORGANIZED!!

·        Complete each assignment & turn in your notebook on time.

·        Cheldelin 6th Grade Late Work Policy:

§        Late assignments can earn up to 80% of the original point value.

§        Missing assignments turn into “zero” grades one week after mid-term and end-of-term progress reports.

·        If you miss class, follow the posted procedure to get what you need to catch up.

·        See me after you do this to be sure you understand what to do!

·        Do your best work in and outside of the classroom.

·        Do your own work.

·        Ask questions! There is no such thing as a silly question. J

Safety

To make sure our classroom is a safe place, it is very important that all students (and the teacher) always act in a safe way in this classroom.

Here’s how:

·        Always read, listen to, and carefully follow all directions.

·        Think before you act! (Do not run, yell, push, throw things out the

        window…)

·        Keep your hands (and feet, knees, elbows, ears…) to yourself.

·        Report any accidents or injuries to me immediately!

·        Treat all classroom equipment and materials with respect and care.
