HIGHLIGHTS FROM CPO OCTOBER 2007 MEETING


Lynn McCurdy was introduced as the new CPO Treasurer for the 2007-2008 school year. As of now, CPO balances were as follows: $1206.00 in checking and $3544.00 in savings.

Heather Willis, Magazine Sales Chair, reported sales and donations totaling $34,000. (Goal was $40,000). Dawn was pleased with the results of the Magazine Sales and will make adjustments in the budget plan. Dawn Granger shared about the extremely positive impact that lower class-sizes are having on behavior improvement in class and outside of class at Cheldelin. She circulated district request for input on spending priorities (e.g. class size, equipment, at-risk students, charter school funding). Attendees at the meeting were able to comment. Dawn shared there are 17 students currently involved in Leadership and that they are helping with Cougar Spirit Night and planning the Veteran’s Day assembly in November. Dawn talked about funding needs for track.; a minimum of $4,000 is needed to fund track. CPO decided to create a core
parent team to help with track funding challenges.

Lezli Weeden highlighted upcoming volunteer needs:
• Fall Conferences November 7th and 8th, need potluck dinner items for staff
• Volunteers are needed to cover librarian lunch break.

Gigi Sims, will be Cheldelin’s Wellness Council Chair and is creating a core team of parents to implement the Cheldelin wellness index this year. If interested contact Gigi at gsimscsims@comcast.net .

It was reported that the Book Fair was going very well and ends Oct 9th.

Heather Willis reported that she has been in the process of pricing out various suppliers of Spirit Wear in the community with the goal to reduce the cost of items to parents and students.

Laura King noted that there were By-Laws issues and made a request for two persons to clarify CPO voting procedures. Plans for Cougar Spirit Night were reviewed and a budget of $100.00 for Cougar Spirit Night was approved.
