Highlights from the January, 2008 Meeting
Treasurer Report: Savings amount was $3543.85 and Checking amount was $2102.80. It was also noted that the bank will not accept Book Fair checks made payable to Scholastic but rather to Cheldelin CPO.
Principal Report: Dawn presented the following: A delayed start schedule which will be posted with delay notifications on Flash Alert.
An overview of the school’s Student Learning Improvement Plan.
A report that Cheldelin students recently received recognition for their performance on a nationally normed math test.
The announcement of an upcoming school-wide Geography Bee.
Student behavior referrals are down 40% this year. Dawn attributed this reduction to the lowering of class sizes.
The parking situation at student pick up time continues to be an issue. Dawn announced that supervision would be in place two times per week to aid in the matter.
A Choir concert took place Jan. 10th. New risers have been purchased for the Choir Room. and the choir is in need of a new keyboard.
An update on track: A core team in support of track will be meeting soon. Dawn is pursuing options to replace the broken track timer.
An overview of Site Council. Its function is to evaluate student performance data and to help establish School Improvement Goals to be implemented by school staff. She is looking for interested parents for training in the spring.
Volunteer Coordinator Report: Lezli expressed gratitude for the substantial number of people willing to volunteer!
Chair Reports: Small Fundraisers- Box tops and used ink cartridges are now being sent in. An updated flyer on Community Merchant fundraisers was presented.
Book Fair- Tentative dates for the Spring Book Fair are Mar. 12th- Mar. 17th. Possible date of Mar. 13th for a Cougar Spirit Night event to coincide with Book Fair.
New Business: Calendar- February and March were tentatively set for Cookie Dough sales.
CPO Funding Decisions- CPO will fund an assembly presented by Camfel Productions in February ($675.00). CPO will hold off on a decision to fund 8th grade Mock Congress until other options have been sought.
There was discussion about changing CPO meeting time. It was agreed that CPO meetings would take place on the first Friday of every month from 11:00-12:30.
Old Business: HP Product Matching- Laura K. reported $1300.00 in checks. Product can be purchased on or after Feb. 1st. Laura will meet with Linda McNelly on this.
CPO By-laws- A committee to revise by-laws will meet before next CPO meeting and present written notice prior to a discussion of the matter at February’s meeting
