AFSCME Family Scholarship - Thirteen $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who are a son, daughter or financially dependent grandchild of an active or retired American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) member who will be enrolled in a 4 year accredited college.  Details available at http://www.afscme.org/members/880.cfm .  Deadline:        Dec 31, 2007.

 

Better Business Bureau Students of Integrity Scholarship- $1,000 scholarship to junior or senior.  Minimum 2.5 GPA, essay and letter of recommendation required.  Deadline:  Friday, November 30, 2007.

 

Ron Brown Scholar Program- For academically talented, highly motivated African American high school seniors.  There are 2 application deadlines: Wednesday, January 9, 2008. Additional info at: www.ronbrown.org or email at franh@ronbrown.org.

 

Burger King “Have it Your Way” Scholarship- $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors.  Must have minimum GPA 2.5, work part time average 15 hours per week, community service involvement, demonstrate financial need.  Apply online at www.bk.com/scholars.  Deadline:  Friday, 2/15/08.

 

Credit Union Assoc. of Oregon (CUAO)- $500 scholarship for students that are members of an Oregon credit union affiliated with CUAO.  Applications available on-line at www.cuao.org (then click on programs, then on ‘CUAO Financial Literacy Scholarship’) and require a transcript and a letter of recommendation. Deadline 3/3/08

 

Kiwanis Student Recognition Program- 2 Awards Student of the Quarter and Most Improved Student.  Deadlines: 12/7/07, 2/7/08, 4/17/08, 6/21/08  www.kiwaniscorvallis.org.   Applications available.

 

McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship – Award amounts up to $10,000 per year for 4 years for a senior who plans to attend a 4 year college and owned/operated a business with at least one employee. More information and to apply: www.mckelveyfoundation.orgDeadline 1/15/2008.

 

Odd Fellows & Rebekahs – United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth- Win a trip (valued at about $2000) to the East Coast for about 13 days in July 2008 – get more info at www.unpilgrimage.org and click on “The Program”.   Must be 16 or 17 on 8/1/08 and currently a high school sophomore or junior.  Write an essay describing the United Nations involvement in a current world affair, minimum 500 words.   Deadline 11/18/07; take a tour and then participate in speech contest on 1/12/08.

 

Oregon Community Foundation - Verl and Dorothy Miller Native American Scholarship- $1,500 to $3,000 scholarship available to Native American residents of Oregon who plan to attend an accredited trade or vocational school in Oregon.  Deadline: Saturday, March 1, 2008 (Application acceptance begins 1/1/08).

 

Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation Young Ambassadors of the 21st Century Award- $150 - $1,250 scholarships based on community service and leadership activities, available for sophomores, juniors and seniors.  Information available at www.orlions.org/foundation/general/formsetc.htm then click on Young Ambassadors of the 21st Century Application and Rules which is near the bottom of the page. Application deadline:  Jan 11, 2008.

 

Oregon Student Assistance Commission- Numerous scholarships available.  Search online listing at www.GetCollegeFunds.org.  Scholarships are grouped in three chapters – by school, by type available to students of varying ages, abilities and goals, and those sponsored by businesses or organizations for their employees and members.  Early deadline:  Friday, February 15, 2008; regular deadline:  Saturday, March 1, 2008.  Master booklets available for viewing in Beyond CHS.

 

OSEA- Oregon School Employee Association- (2) Scholarships- Guy Davis and Past Presidents’(for children and grandchildren of OSEA member) and L. Gerber (for OSEA member) Scholarships. $1000 & $1250 scholarships are available. Deadlines are 2/1/2008 and 3/1/2008.

 

OSU Federal Credit Union – Tomorrow’s Leaders Today (TLT) Scholarship- Two $1000 college scholarships available to seniors that hold an OSU Federal Credit Union checking and savings account.  **Applicant needs to have opened TLT savings and checking accounts by 10/31/07**.  Additional info on the application and essay will follow. Application deadline: Thursday, 1/31/08.

 

Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize – This contest is open to sophomores and juniors.  Visit http://www.kenyonreview.org/programs/ywpp.php between Nov 1 and Nov 30 and upload one original, unpublished poem. Details available at website. Winner receives full scholarship to the Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop for summer of 2008.  This is a two week writers workshop at Kenyon College in Ohio. The poems of the top three entrants will be published in the Kenyon Review. Deadline: Nov 30, 2007.

Pride and Greater Seattle Business  Association’s Scholarship –  Preference is given to students who are self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), members of LGBT families, or straight-allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBT community. All scholarships emphasize demonstrated commitment to human and civil rights for all people.
