General Information
Lettering Requirements:
-Score 10 varsity points
-Score 5 varsity points and 10 junior varsity points
-Qualify for finals (top 8) in District Meet
Any of the above plus ALL of the following:
-Attend practice on a regular basis throughout season.
-Display good sportsmanship and attitude towards practice, teammates
and coaches.
-Follow all team rules.
Practice:
-Begins at 3:10 p.m. each day in the grandstands.
-Attendance is Mandatory - talk to your coach before missing a
practice.
-Dress warm - wear sweat pants and sweat shirt. These may be removed
after the warm-up. Do not buy fancy sweats for practice because they
will get muddy, torn, stolen, etc.
Uniforms and equipment:
-Team uniforms must be worn in all meets - solid team colored tights
may be worn UNDER your shorts.
-You may choose to wear your own sweats during meets.
-All equipment must be paid for if lost. This is usually due to
carelessness. Take care of your equipment. Do not wear uniforms for
any other purpose other than meets.
-Locks will be issued to each athlete. USE THEM! Lock your locker
whenever you leave the locker room.
Track Meets:
-All athletes stay at the meet until the end. Special situations
will be considered, see your coach first.
-Support your fellow athletes. Move around and watch an event you
are not involved in. Do this by staying off of the track and in the
spectator areas when not competing.
-If you are not competing when the hurdles are being set up, get
down on the track and help out.
-Athletes may be disqualified from competition from foul language or
un-sportsmanlike conduct. School issued uniforms must be worn or the
athlete will be disqualified.
-If you have a protest during a meet, talk to your coach, don't risk
disqualification by screaming at the meet officials.
-We may miss parts of sixth and seventh periods on away meet days.
-Check with your teacher the day BEFORE to get make up assignments.
Track causes responsibilities, not excuses.
-Display good sportsmanship towards all others involved in the meet.
-Poor bus riders are left home. Behave yourself on the bus and at
the meets. Remain seated throughout the trip.
-All athletes must ride the bus to and from the meet.
-Exceptions will be when riding home with your parents.
-This must be arranged with your coach. A written note from your
parents is mandatory.
-Meets can last a long time. Be certain to dress warm and bring your
own food. Under NO circumstances will it be okay for anyone to leave
the meet site without a coach or pre-arranged parent.
Training Rules:
-Use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco are not permitted.
-Get plenty of rest and eat a balanced diet.
-Schedule your day wisely. Everyone has homework and that should not
be a reason for missing practice.
