The men who went to Portland, April 10, wearing the colors of
old
CHS did eceptionally fine work and three men placed. Clarence
Rands took second place in the 220 yard dash and Walter Snyder
placed
first in the half mile, with Earnest Lewis a close second. Fred
Baird en-
tered in the 440 yard dash but was unable to place, as he was
spiked on
one of the turns.
Because of the conference ruling that no college or University
shall
hold an interscholastic track meet, the schol held a state meet
on the
college field, May 15.
Although no school in the state has ever attempted to
entertain so
many men, the meet was considered highly successful, and is
expected to
be an annual event. A good turnout for track team is expected
next year,
as only one man on this year's team, (Clarence Rands), will
graduate.
