Yearbook Article:
In one of the largest turnouts in recent years, the Corvallis track team was off to the races. Along with the huge turnout, many new faces managed to sneak their way out to the track field. The Spartans were particularly good at distance running, and showed promise in many other events. In spring time, the Spartans were looking for improvement and success with the addition of the younger crowd. Returning pole vaulters had a good look at new heights, while newcomers were still managing to learn the mechanics of the sport. Throwers were confident in having another strong year, while the younger athletes in frock put forth their efforts in hopes of moving up the track and field todem pole.

Yearbook article:

Track is Da Place To Be
When the Corvallis High School track season began with a meet versus South Albany and Monroe, no one was prepared for the total domination exhibited by Erin Walker and Ashley Walker (no relation).
Senior Erin Walker won both the javelin and the discuss. Walker threw the javelin 87 feet plus 9 inches. She also throws the discus 100 feet.
Junior Ashley Walker won the 1,500 meters in an amazing time of 5 minutes, 31.5 seconds, and won the 3,000 meters in 12 minutes 17.5 seconds. The Spartans dished out the defeat to the South Albany Rebels 107-38.
The boys team lost the meet to South Albany 81-66 but had strong performances from several members, namely James Scruggs who won the long jump and triple jump. Kahn Gorlewski and Scott Beyer also placed first and second in the 1,500 meters.
