students in this class will have fun Learning the technical and design skills as well as the creative thinking and expression involved in making visual art. This class delves into a wide variety of media-drawing with pencil, charcoal, pastel; collage and sculpture construction; painting and printmaking. Student will learn to use the elements and principals of design to define their thoughts. Art from a variety of times and places will be viewed, discussed, and students will explore one artist of his or her choice in depth. If you want to get into visual expression, this is the place.

This course is for students who are enthusiastic about art and capable of more independent art study. This class provides the opportunity for independent exploration of media, design and ideas, as well as more advanced instruction in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Students will begin to prepare a portfolio of work that may enable them to enter into higher education in art or to enter into an art career. Expect field trips, presentations, demonstrations, and opportunities to exhibit your work!

In order to sign up for this class, start by signing up for Visual Art 2 and then later you can designate "Independent Projects" course designation. Independent study or projects class is for the highly motivated and independent student who has successfully completed two or more classes in a specific fine arts subject area. The student and the supervising teacher will work together to form a list of requirements, goals, evaluation methods and meeting times. Sign up through your counselor.
