This course prepares students for the rigorous and demanding fields of engineering and manufacturing. Whether making gears, designing car-bodies, or structuring hypersonic planes, the demand for qualified engineers and manufacturers will only continue to rise into the 21st century. |
Computerized Manufacturing
This class will enable students interested in the areas of engineering,
mechanical design, and manufacturing to gain relevant skills. The class
uses computer, numerically-controlled machines to design and produce
projects developed by the students. MasterCamTM, a software widely used in
industry, will provide the means to develop these skills. Other skills
introduced in the class are: blueprint reading, manufacturing processes,
research and development, precision measuring, industrial materials, and
problem solving.

Projects
In Computerized Manufacturing there are three distinct parts to all projects: Idea, Design, and Construction. Design and Construction are emphasized, but without an Idea, nothing can be accomplished.

There are many in-class competitions, which give students a chance to make breath-taking products, demonstrate thinking capabilities, and show manual dexterity and creativeness. Most students do really well, and the competition is stiff, but many superb products are fabricated.
