LBCC SUMMER CAREER ACADEMIES
June 25 and 26, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and June 27, 9:00 – 4:00
For students who will be juniors or seniors next year. Free.
Spend two afternoon sessions in a lab setting at LBCC exploring the non-human members of our community such as animals, plants, fungi and microbes. On Friday, bring a sack lunch when we will take a field trip to meet local biologists that are specializing in wildlife and wildlife habitat management. This workshop is oriented toward students interest in exploring college options to learn about natural resources opportunities in our area as well as what a college biology class experience might be like. Students will learn the basics of 3D solids modeling and design using SolidWorks software. 3D assemblies, stress analysis, communication tools and rapid manufacturing with 3D Printing will also be discussed. Heavy Equipment/Diesel—Service and Repair

For students who are at least 16 years of age. Free.
Does the sound of a big rig turn your head? Find out if a career as a well-paid diesel technician is right for you. You will learn about hydraulics, transmissions, brakes and air brake systems and much more. No classroom knowledge or work experience is required. Horse Management/Equine Science

…..view an ultrasound as part of the breeding process

Industrial and Air Conditioning Technicians
June 17 and 18, 8:30 a.m.– 3:30 p.m.
For students interested in technical careers who are at least 16. Free.
Do you want to be the person who can fix the complex industrial production line or the air conditioning system that cools the mega computer? Such skills are always in high demand. Regardless of your technical trade, you must have first-rate electrical troubleshooting skills. This intensive course will introduce you to electrical troubleshooting techniques that can be applied to many trades. Students will get an introduction to computer numerical control technology.

For students who will be 9th or 10th graders next year. Free.
Come explore the insides of the atom. In this three-day academy you will get to:
Spend a day in Lebanon taking X-Rays of various objects and learning about the science and technology involved in X-Ray imaging;
Spend a day at OSU touring a nuclear reactor, finding the half-life of a radioactive isotope of Aluminum, and learning about the science and technology behind nuclear engineering and health physics;
Spend a day at LBCC where you get to learn more about the physics behind suns and the origins of the atoms that make up us and our planet..

Students will be introduced to variety of welding technology careers and learn about skills needed to be successful.
Three or four welding processes will be introduced and practiced by students. The final day will be spent completing a welding project.
