LOCAL/REGIONAL:

 

2/16/12            Oregon Student Assistance Commission- Numerous need-based scholarships available.  Search and apply online listing at www.GetCollegeFunds.org.  Scholarships are grouped in four sections – by school; by type (academic interest, career choice, specific populations) and available to students of varying ages; by employers or membership organizations for their employees and members; and by donor.  Early deadline:  Monday, February 16, 2012;  Deadline:  Monday, March 1, 2012.  Master booklets available for viewing in Beyond CHS.

 

2/24/12                        Confederation of Oregon School Administrators (COSA)- For students planning to attend an Oregon college, 3.5+gpa. 3 general scholarships, 8 for specific groups including fields of engineering and education, Latino student or involved in leadership/service.  $1000 scholarships.  Applications available online at www.cosa.k12.or.us.  Deadline: postmarked by 2/24/12.

 

2/29/12            Association of Computer Professionals in Education  - Four scholarships of up to $2,500 each. For seniors in OR and WA who have been actively involved in technology and are planning to pursue studies in a technology related field. GPA greater than C+. 3/1/12              Oregon State Fraternal Order of Eagles Scholarship- $1000 scholarships available to seniors. Applicants are evaluated in three areas (equally):  academic record, financial need and extracurricular activities.  Transcript and four adult recommendations required – see application form for information. Deadline: 3/1/12

 

3/1/12               Oregon Collectors Association Bob Hasson/Newman Memorial Scholarship- 3 scholarships awarded to seniors – for study at an Oregon college, university or trade school within 12 months of award. Awards are $3,000, $2,000, $1,000.  Essay required. More information available at www.orcascholarshipfund.com  .  Deadline 3/1/2012.

 

3/1/12              Ford Scholars Program – Need based, renewable scholarship award of up to 90% of the recipient’s unmet financial need up to $25,000/yr. Must be a resident of Oregon, HS senior or community college student, 3.0+gpa or with teacher/counselor recommendation, intending to attend fulltime Oregon college or University. 3/1/12              Girls on Ice Expeditions – Open to high school girls age 15 – 18.  Free wilderness, science education program, supported by NSF and private donations.  North Cascades expedition July 29 – Aug 9 or July 15 – 25 in Alaska.  More information, or to apply:  http://girlsonice.org/   .

3/9/12            Kiwanis Student Recognition Program- 4 Awards Student of the Quarter (one per quarter).  $100 savings bond awarded per quarter.  Must have senior class standing. Recipients are eligible to be selected as Student of the Year   (1-$1,000 scholarship).  Applications available in Beyond CHS and must be turned in to Nancy Shaffer in Beyond CHS.  Deadlines:  Please turn in to Nancy by 3/9/12. 3/12/12                        Zonta International Women in Public Affairs- for young women, ages 16 – 20.  Offers a club prize, a cash award of $500 and five awards of $1000.  Info at  www.zonta.org.  Deadline:  3/12/12.

 

 

3/15/12                        Benton Habitat for Humanity Logo Contest -  Benton Habitat for Humanity is looking for a new logo for their annual running event call the Health Heart Home Classic which will be held in Sept 2012.  The winner will receive $200 from Keller Williams Realty.    Details and 2011 winner available in Beyond CHS.   Deadline is 3/15/12 .

 

3/15/12            Kohl’s Cares – The Kohl's Cares® Scholarship Program recognizes and rewards young volunteers (ages 6-18) who help make their communities a better place to live. To be eligible, the student must meet the following criteria as of March 15, 2012: 1) Must be between the ages of 6 and 18 and not yet a high school graduate. 2) Actions must be described in detail and should document efforts above and beyond what is expected of a child his or her age. 3) Volunteer efforts must have occurred in the last year. 4) Winners are chosen based on the project, benefits and outcome. This year, more than 2,200 kids will be recognized with over $440,000 in scholarships and prizes. Store Winners will receive a $50 Kohl’s Gift Card. Regional Winners will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for post-secondary education. 3/15/12                        Oregon Farm Bureau Memorial Scholarship Project – (8-10 scholarships of approx $1000). For a senior or Oregon high school graduate who plans to attend a 2 year or 4 year college. Student must be a member or a dependent of a member of the Oregon Farm Bureau. 3/15/12                        Oregon Farm Bureau Associate Member Scholarship Project –$1000 for a senior or Oregon high school graduate who plans to attend college in an agriculture or forestry related major. 3/19/12                        OSU Folk Club Thrift Shop Scholarship-  $2400 merit scholarships awarded to high school seniors who will be attending  OSU. In addition to academic merit, they are also looking at applicant’s activities, work experience, volunteer and community activities. Deadline:  3/19/2012.

 

3/31/12            Rotary Student Assistance Grant Program- Up to ten grants ranging from $500 to $1,000.  Students must show potential for service and leadership.  Hard copy application should be filled out and emailed (preferred) or sent via regular mail.  Deadline 3/31/2012.

 

4/1/12              Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. Scholars Award- $1,500 grant (renewable for 3 years) for high school seniors interested in a forest resource production field of study at a four year college. 4/1/12              Oregon State Elks Vocational Grant  - Local Elks chapters participate in awarding $1,000 grant to high school students seeking to pursue only a two-year terminal associate degree program, voc/tech program (not a bachelor’s degree). 200 word essay and letters of recommendation required.  Deadline for completed application including endorsement of local Elks scholarship chair: April 1, 2012.

 

4/2/11              Benton County Master Gardener Association  - Marie Madison Horticulture Scholarship – $1000 Scholarship for a graduating senior who is a Benton County resident and plans to attend a 2 yr or 4 yr college and with an interest a major or career in botany, horticulture or plant science. 4/2/12              Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators -  Must be a graduating senior and dependent child of an Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators.  Two $1000 awards can be used at a 2 or 4 year college, university or professional/technical school. 4/15/12            Apron Strings Scholarship – A $1500 (nonrenewable) award in honor of Kathryn Brandis, for a senior who will attend a community college, vocational school, college or university in the US or abroad for 2012-2013. The award will honor a student who may be taking the “path less traveled”. Submit the following to Nancy Shaffer: an essay (500 words or less) explaining your background, future goals, and why this scholarship is important to you.  In addition, a cover letter should include your name, social security, address, telephone number, college you will be attending. Also, please attach an unofficial transcript and a recommendation from a person who knows you well (not a relative). Deadline 4/15/12.

 

4/15/12            Karl Corbin Philomath Volunteer Firefighters Association - $500 scholarships for college tuition are available.  Student must reside in Philomath Fire District, must successfully complete high school, have above a 2.75 GPA.  Applications are available at Philomath Fire Dept, 1035 Main St, Philomath, OR.  Preference will be given to students who aspire to a career in Fire Services or medicine. Deadline: 4/15/12.

 

4/16/12            Marilyn Koski Memorial Scholarship- $5000 scholarship to one graduating senior who will attend OSU.  It will be awarded in installments.  Must be nominated or self-nominate; application due to Nancy Shaffer in Beyond CHS.  Must have attended CHS for at least 3 years, meet OSU entrance requirements; additional requirements detailed in application packet.  Deadline: 4/16/2012.

 

4/30/12                        Roy Webster Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship for graduates of Oregon and Washington high schools pursuing degrees from US colleges and universities. NATIONAL:

2/10/12            Point Foundation- Awarded to students who have a history of leadership in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community.  Award amount varies based on available funds (average award per scholar is ~$10,000.  Online application available at www.pointfoundation.org.  Deadline:  2/10/2012.

 

2/15/12             Best Buy @ 15 Scholarship- providing $1000 scholarships to 9th-12th graders to recognize students involved in volunteer community service or work experience.  View eligibility details and apply online at www.BestBuy.com/scholarships . Deadline:  2/15/2012.

 

2/20/12            Vegetarian Resource Group – Two $5000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors (NOTE:  graduating Spring of 2012) who promote vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. http://www.vrg.org/student/scholar.htm .  Deadline: 2/20/12 .

 

2/29/12                        Buick Achievers Scholarship Program – 1,000 $2,000 scholarships (4 year) and 100 $25,000 (4 year). Encourages applicants who will be first time freshman in Fall 2012 at a 4 year college/university, plan to major in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Bus Admin, Finance, Marketing or Design and are interested in a career in the automotive or related industries. 3/1/12              National Achievement Scholarship Program – Black American HS Juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT in October, complete Section 14 on the answer sheet and meet other requirements will be entered into the competition for recognition and Achievement Scholarship awards. 3/9/12              Tzu Chi Foundation - Scholarships of $1000 are available to a senior who will attend an accredited US college full-time during ’11-‘12 and has a 3.0 GPA.  Must demonstrate financial need for college tuition.  For more information: http://www.us.tzuchi.org/usa/files/other/TzuChiScholars_2011_ApplicationForm.pdf . 3/18/12                        Google UNCF Scholarship application - $10000 for higher education for promising scholars. That's why Google is proud to support the work of UNCF. Google is committed to helping the innovators of the future make the most of their talents by providing scholarships and retreats for students pursuing a computer science or computer engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related field with a high volume of computer science related courses. Selected students will each receive a $10,000 scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year, and be invited to attend the all-expenses paid Annual Google Scholars' Retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, California in 7/2013. 3/31/12                        US Bank Internet Scholarships- Awards up to (40) $1000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend college.  Current undergraduates are also eligible. 4/15/12                        American Foreign Service Association Essay Contest – Winner receives $2500 prize, trip to Washington DC (incl parents) to meet the Secretary of State and a full scholarship for Univ of Va’s Semester at Sea. 4/30/12                        The Fruit Company Gift Basket Entrepreneur Award - $4,000 scholarship for any US high school graduate with drive and vision to make their mark on the business world through e-commerce, social media, search marketing, online business. African – American Scholarship Listings – Come to CHS and get the list from the scholarship drawer. It is a great starting point for African – American Students looking for scholarships.  But don’t forget to look at this list too, because there are three scholarships listed below which are for African –American students- the Black United Fund of Oregon, the Ron Brown Scholar Program  and the Dr. Ethel Simon –McWilliams Scholarship.

 

Asian American Scholarships – The Asian Reporter has a list of scholarships for Asian American students. Various specific qualifications and deadlines apply. Go to http://www.asianreporter.com/scholarships.htm for more information.
