African – American Scholarship Listings – Come to CHS and get the list from the scholarship drawer. It is a great starting point for African – American Students looking for scholarships.  But don’t forget to look at this list too, because there are three scholarships listed below which are for African –American students- the Black United Fund of Oregon, the Ron Brown Scholar Program and the Dr. Ethel Simon –McWilliams Scholarship.

 

Altrusa Latina Scholarship- $500 award to a graduating female Latino student; funds awarded upon enrollment in college or vocational training program.  Details in Beyond CHS.  Deadline: 4/15/2010.

 

Asian Reporter Foundation – 4 $1000 scholarships for Oregon students attending OR schools of higher education.  2 $500 scholarships for OR students attending OR or WA schools of higher education.  Application and further details available at:  http://www.arfoundation.net/awards.html . Winners must attend April 24 event.

Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. Scholars Award- $1,500 grant (renewable for 3 years) for high school seniors interested in a forest resource production field of study at a four year college.  Essay required.  For information and application see www.oregonloggers.org/scholarship.html. Deadline:  4/1/2010.

 

American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Volunteer Recognition Scholarship- $300 award for a senior who has been involved in AYSO Region 149 for a minimum of 4 years (as a player and/or volunteer) within the last year and exemplifies the mission and philosophies of AYSO.  Must have volunteer experience in Region 149. Senior must plan to attend community college, vocational-tech school, or a 4 year college/university, which will lead to a college degree or license. Short essay on the topic “What have you gained from your experiences in AYSO” required. Available at www.corvallisayso.org through their search menu.  Deadline: 4/30/10 .

 

Benton County Master Gardener Association  - Marie Madison Horticulture Scholarship – $750 Scholarship for a graduating senior who is a Benton County resident and plans to attend a 2 yr or 4 yr college and major in botany/horticulture and/or plant science.  More information and applications available at:  http://extension.oregonstate.edu/benton/sites/default/files/MMHortScholarship.doc  .  Deadline: Received by May 7, 2010.

 

Pete Brooks Scholarship - $2500 maximum for a senior who will be attending U of O on a pre-business track next year. Applications available in Beyond CHS. Deadline 5/18/10.

 

Chinese American Citizens Alliance Fred G. Lee Memorial Scholarship- $1,000 scholarships, one renewable.  Chinese Ancestry is not a requirement, but applicant must have a parent or guardian who is a member of the C.A.C.A. Chinese American Citizens Alliance Tiffany Wang Arts Scholarship – Two students will receive $500 towards a summer art program.  Must be a 9th, 10th or 11th grader and at least ¼ Chinese with a 3.0 or better GPA. http://www.cacaportland.org/docs/Tiffany_Wang_Arts_Scholarship_2010_Application_Form.pdf Deadline: 4/1/10 .

 

Corvallis Clinic Schools Foundation (George W. Knox Scholarship)- For students planning for a career in a health-related profession. Award: $400. Deadline: 4/30/2010.  Turn application in to Nancy Shaffer in Beyond CHS.

 

Corvallis Clinic Schools Foundation (James A Riley Memorial Scholarship)- For students planning for a career in a health-related profession. Award: $400. Deadline: 4/30/2010.  Turn application in to Nancy Shaffer in Beyond CHS.

 

Corvallis Education Association CEA and Memorial Scholarships- $600 to a CHS senior, $600 to a CVHS senior and $600 to a senior whose parent is a member of Corvallis Education Association member (is a Corvallis teacher). Must use for study at institution of higher learning – community college or college. Educator and community (non-relative) recommendations required. Deadline: Received by April 30, 2010.  

 

Credit Union Assoc. of Oregon (CUAO)- Financial Literacy Committee and Louis M. Hartley Benefit Scholarship- For students that are members of an Oregon credit union (Advantis, Benton County School, Central Willamette, Northwest Community, On Point Community, Oregon Community, OSU Federal, Red Canoe, SELCO Community) with their own account. Financial Literacy committee will award two $500 scholarships to students with 3.0+gpa. Short essay, academic transcript required. For Hartley scholarship ($500), student must have some degree of hearing impairment or are becoming medically qualified to assist the hearing impaired. Short essay, information of student/parent’s financial need required. Applications available at www.cuao.org (under ‘Foundation’ then under ‘Programs’) or in Beyond CHS. Deadline for all materials to be received by CUAO: March 31, 2010.

 

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum - $1000 scholarship for a senior interested in pursuing a career in aviation maintenance and will pursue an Associate of Applied Science Degree with an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.  Read details carefully.  Deadline: Received by 3/31/10.

 

Loene P. Guthrie Scholarship (Oregon Music Teachers Association)- Up to $1000 scholarship.  This scholarship is available to Linn, Benton and Lincoln county seniors who are music students intending to study music in college. This scholarship is designated for students who want to become music educators.  Requires two letters of recommendation; if student is selected for next stage, an informal performance will be required on Saturday, April 3.  Application deadline: March 20, 2010.

 

Dorothy May Jenks Scholarship (Oregon Music Teachers Association)- Up to $1000 scholarship.  Available to Linn, Benton and Lincoln county seniors who are music students and intending to study music in college, but not necessarily to become music teachers. Requires two letters of recommendation; if student is selected for next stage, an informal performance will be required on Saturday, April 3.  Application deadline: March 20, 2010.

 

Joann Fabric and Craft Stores – Own Your Look Prom Contest 2010. Make a prom garment and accessory with fabric/materials purchased from Joann Fabrics. Please read requirements carefully.  Listing here is not endorsement.  Grand prize is $50000 cash, 2nd prize is $10000, 3rd prize $5000, 4th – 10th prize $1000.  Deadline: June 15, 2010.

 

Kidco Head Start – has three scholarships available to Head Start graduates.  1) The Kidco Head Start Scholarship ($1000 per yr x 2 years), 2) the Phyllis J. Jones Memorial Scholarship ($1500) and 3) the Frank Roberts Memorial Scholarship ($1500).  Additional details are available at Beyond CHS.  Deadline: March 15, 2010.

 

Kiwanis Student Recognition Program- 4 Awards Student of the Quarter.  $100 savings bond awarded per quarter.  Applications available in Beyond CHS and must be turned in to Nancy Shaffer in Beyond CHS.  Deadlines:  Please turn in to Nancy by  3-17-10.

Some of the scholarships to which these websites refer charge a fee to apply.  Beyond CHS does not recommend applying for such scholarships.

 

OSU Folk Club Thrift Shop Scholarship-  $2400 merit scholarships awarded to high school seniors who will be attending  OSU. In addition to academic merit, they are also looking at applicant’s activities, work experience, volunteer and community activities. Deadline:  3/19/2010.

 

Oakville Youth Memorial Scholarship - For high school seniors living in the Oakville parks and Recreation district or who are active in the Oakville Presbyterian Church.  Based on achievement, potential, financial need or a combination of these.  Deadline:  4/15/10.

 

Oregon Association of Broadcasters Foundation Scholarships- offering $2500 - $3500 scholarships for Oregon students who are majoring in Broadcast Journalism, Production, Management, and/or other related studies at an Oregon institution. Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine Student Senate Scholarship- Three $500 scholarships awarded to seniors planning to become a medical doctor and enroll in four-year university full time for 2010-2011.  Two short essays required. Oregon Humane Society Poster and Photo/Story Event – For grades 9th through 12th.  Information and application available at:  http://www.oregonhumane.org/services/contests.asp . Deadline is March 26, 2010.

 

Oregon Medical Education Foundation Scholarship- $1000 for students (seniors only) seeking a career or degree in medicine or nursing.  Applications available in Beyond CHS.  Deadline 4/1/10.

 

Oregon Music Hall of Fame Music Scholarship- (4) $1000 scholarships for seniors who will continue their musical studies in college.  Application available online at www.omhof.org. Brief essay required.  Deadline: March 15, 2010.

 

Oregon Parent Teacher Assoc. Teacher Education Scholarship- $500 award to high school senior who is an Oregon resident studying for a teaching degree at an Oregon public college or university. Must plan to teach at an Oregon primary or secondary school. Info: http://www.oregonpta.org/Involved/TES.htm  .Application must be received by 3/22/10.

 

Oregon School Employee Assn- John Brown Scholarship Chapter 2 (OSEA)- 2 scholarships $500 each to deserving students. For graduating student whose parent, step-parent, grandparent of legal guardian is Corvallis School District employee. Must have plans for post-high school education.  Essay required.  Deadline:  4/14/10.

 

Oregon School Employee Association (OSEA)- John Brown(for children and grandchildren of OSEA members). Two scholarships of $500 are available. Details available in Beyond CHS. Deadline: postmarked by April 14, 2010.  

 

Oregon Sports Hall of Fame – MacTarnahan Scholarship – Up to six $2000 scholarships to graduating seniors who can demonstrate financial need, athletic accomplishments, community involvement and have a GPA of 3.3, SAT of 1000 or ACT of 21. Thomas E. Pitzer – Aviation Maintenance Scholarship – $1000 scholarship for a senior with at least a 3.0 GPA and planning to pursue an Assoc of Applied Science Degree with FAA A&P Certification.  Details and application: http://www.evergreenmuseum.org/education/pilot_scholarships.html . Ayn Rand Education Essay Contest – Awards from $30 to $10,000 for essays on one of two Ayn Rand works, judged on both style and content. Three essay topics are available for 8th grade through college level, 521 prizes awarded, plus free books for participating teachers. Anthem contest for 8th-10th grades, The Fountainhead contest for 11th-12th grades.  Go to www.aynrandeducation.com for more details and an application (also available in Beyond CHS). Bob Rapp Memorial Scholarship.  Two scholarships for $1000 and two for $500. Details and application at http://www.oregon-asa.com/rapp/docs/pdf/app.pdf .  Deadline: 7-1-10.

 

Rollin Oldies Automotive Scholarship – A $ 500 award to a senior from Albany, Lebanon, Scio, Sweet Home, Corvallis or Philomath who plans to attend an accredited school of higher learning full time, in an automotive related field.  Deadline:  5/31/2010.

 

Rotary Student Assistance Grant Program- Up to ten grants ranging from $500 to $1,000.  Students must show potential for service and leadership.  Hard copy application should be filled out and emailed (preferred) or sent via regular mail.  Deadline 3/15/2010.

 

Janice Scott Memorial Scholarship – Awards six $2500 scholarships to high school seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher who will attend a 4 year accredited college or university next year. Seniors need to have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community services, extra curricular or other activities. Deadline: March 31, 2010.

 

 

SELCO Community Credit Union – There are thirteen $1500 scholarships.  Must be a senior with a GPA of 3.5, planning to attend a 4 year accredited institution in the fall and an immediate family member must be a member of SELCO Community Credit Union. Essay and three letters of recommendation required. Applications available in Beyond CHS. Deadline 4/1/10.

 

Kip Smith Young Writer’s Award- Cash prize $1000 to a high school senior.  Writing samples required. Details available in Beyond CHS. Deadline: 5/3/10.
