The second theatrical production of the year from the Fine Arts Department is an original play for children called Tricksters. The play will be performed on tour to several elementary schools in late February and performed at CHS Feb. 28 and March 1 at 7:30 PM and at 2:00 PM March 1.
The play is being created by the acting ensemble under the direction of Rick Wallace. Drawing on traditional stories from a number of cultures, the actors are creating a quilt work of stories about legendary characters known for their tricky ways. Coyote, Anansi and Raven are a few of the characters, which are providing inspiration for the piece.
The acting company includes Mara Bateman, Tiffany Bird, Allison Bray, Emily Gore, Sophie Herron, Karen Kinnison, Natalie Lewis, Madeline Maze, Julia Osen Averill, Lesley Peterson, Alex Pike, Katie Shaw and Tara René Yeiter. Company Manager is Rachel Pike.
The Corvallis High School Recycling Program received a check for $223 after collecting empty inkjet cartridges and sending them to Recyclers USA. There was no charge for shipping so the check was all profit for our school. $75 of the money will be used to replenish the Recycling Programs supply of gloves, liquid soap, garbage bags etc. with the remaining $148 going toward the purchase of new ink cartridges for CHS. Thanks to everyone who donated their empty inkjet cartridges to this valuable program. Currently laser ink cartridges are not recycled but if you would like to donate empty inkjet cartridges to the Recycling Program, please put them in a plastic baggie and turn them into the main office at CHS. This saves not only raw materials used in making new cartridges, but also helps support the CHS printer supplies budget and the CHS Recycling Program.

The CHS leadership class is starting a box tops for education campaign. Box tops are cut outs on food items, such as General Mills cereal boxes and some Pillsbury products. Money raised through the collection of box tops would be used for the new CHS building in some way (items that were not budgeted for). All families are encouraged to cut out box tops and bring them into the main office, or to mail them to the high school c/o leadership class.
Gift idea: Spartan wear for sale!
The Spart Mart, the Student Store, and Gift Shop are businesses operated by the CHS Small Business Management class for the benefit of the school. The students learn how to operate a business, and at the end of the year, profits generated from student business ventures are used to support CHS athletics. The Student Store operates a snack bar during morning breaks, as well as concessions during athletic events.
The Spart Mart, located in Room 101, offers a fine line of “Spartan wear” – sweat pants, sweatshirts (hooded or not), t-shirts, denim shirts, lanyards, hats, socks, and other items – for sale. Merchandise is available at some home athletic events. If you wish to purchase any of the Spart Mart’s fine items at other times contact Ron Sather or ask in the main office.
