Please don’t pull through the parking lot!
Your cooperation in making the area around CHS safe is appreciated. During the early morning and afternoon rush (7:25 – 7:45 AM and 3:05 – 3:25 PM):
Ø Do not drop off (or pick up) students in the parking lot in front of the main entrance! This results in cars backed up on 11th Street, traffic jams and unsafe conditions for students and staff trying to get into the building.
Ø Two good options for dropping off (and picking up) passengers are: 11th Street in front of the school (not in the parking lot!) and Pierce Street.
Students and parents are reminded that some parking areas are off-limits to students, including the front lot, the industrial compound and the area near the home economics wing. Student cars parked improperly or in inappropriate areas will be cited; continued offenses may lead to towing.
An Albertsons “partner’s card” lets you donate 5% of purchases to CHS (up to $1800 per quarter). The cards are available in Beyond CHS and the main office. When you purchase groceries at Albertsons, just hand the clerk your partner’s card to scan. It's that simple to support students at CHS. Last year’s total was $1,337.00!
Seniors
If you did not fill out a diploma reservation slip at registration, see Cindy Gulledge or Jan Walker immediately.
Because funds for library materials were drastically reduced this year we are asking for help. We would like to first thank the wonderful Franklin parents and others who have provided many magazine subscriptions for the CHS library. This will help to replace the majority of the subscriptions that were lost.
Please look for the “Adopt a Book Program” table at parent teacher conferences. We are in great need of maintaining materials for student research. A bookplate bearing the donor’s name will be placed inside each book donated to CHS.
Kidshare is a program that helps students with many things that they need to make their life and times at the high school a bit easier. Sometimes families cannot provide everything that students need and Kidshare is here to help fill the gaps. A box will be located in Beyond CHS for personal requests. Students need only to leave a note with their name on it and whatever they may need and if possible we will try to make it happen for you. All requests are confidential. Some ideas of things students have requested at the Westland Kidshare program are: bus passes so they could stay after school for activities, school supplies, clothing, personal items, haircuts, bike helmets, locks and even some food items to name a few. It really depends on the student's individual needs. This is a really great program. As a new program, we need help financially and volunteers to help organize and get it on its feet. Donations can be made to the school district foundation for CHS KIDSHARE. For more information or to help volunteer please contact Chris Ladovsky 752-6240 or talk with Nancy Shaffer in Beyond CHS, 757-7511.

Telephone messages for students will be placed on the student’s locker unless there is an emergency. This is to minimize class interruptions. Please remind your son or daughter in the morning before school of appointments during the day. Sorry, and thank you for your patience and politeness towards our attendance office personnel.
Wish List: bandages, gauze pads, latex gloves, plastic bags and rubbing alcohol for the health room.
Corvallis High School Preschool is NOW accepting preschoolers between 3-5 years old. We meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:15 AM - 12:45 PM. Please call Kristen Hackethorn for more information 757-3904.
CHS needs your help in reporting absences. If your child has been, or will be absent, please call the CHS Attendance Office at 757-5888 as soon as possible. If you do not call, the computer will record your child’s absence as unexcused. After 48 hours, absences cannot be excused. Notes are not accepted in place of the phone call.
Absences may be excused at the request of a student’s parent/guardian because of illness, disability, illness in the immediate family requiring the student’s presence, a family emergency, religious reasons, or anything the school deems appropriate (up to 5 pre-arranged absences per semester). Students who are eighteen-years-old may request their own absences be excused.
Encourage your child to attend all classes; but, if a class is missed, clear excused absences in a timely fashion by calling to give the exact date of absence, block or period of absence, and please spell the student’s last name clearly. [top] [home]

Gift idea: Spartan wear for sale!
The Spart Mart, the Student Store, and Gift Shop are businesses operated by the CHS Small Business Management class for the benefit of the school. The students learn how to operate a business, and at the end of the year, profits generated from student business ventures are used to support CHS athletics. The Student Store operates a snack bar during morning breaks, as well as concessions during athletic events.
The Spart Mart, located in Room 101, offers a fine line of “Spartan wear” – sweat pants, sweatshirts (hooded or not), t-shirts, denim shirts, lanyards, hats, socks, and other items – for sale. Merchandise is available at some home athletic events. If you wish to purchase any of the Spart Mart’s fine items at other times contact Ron Sather or ask in the main office.
The Gift Shop delivers balloons and candy at school for special occasions. [home] [top]
