CHS IN THE 1950'S

   Back when the Twist was the new dance craze, and Beaver Clever was your show, CHS was at its best as shown in this picture.  


       Things have definitely changed since the 1950's.  From shorter skirts to the overall spirit of CHS that altered through the years.  As shown in the caption, these Pep Club senior stutted their stuff to the song, "That'll Be the Day."


 


Here we have the National Honor Society of 1950.  The majority of the club
consisted of females, with only a small amount of males.  Notice how all the
young ladies were in skirts, blousses, and saddle shoes.
 


School Spirit
                        

School spirit was taken very seriously in the 50's. Being true to your school was very important in Spartanville. Awards were given out for the most spirited and most patriotic students each year. Here you can see some of the class clowns of the 50's

Dwight D. Eisenhower was the president during  the majority of the 50's.  He showed his leadership during WWII in the invasion of the beach out there heads of Normady and North Africa.

 

This '57 Chevy Bel Air was one of the coolest cars out there during the 50's.  You just weren't a crusin' babe if you didn't own one of these classic cars. The Bel Air is still one of the most desired cars today.
