ESL Teacher

Graduation Year: 1980

Favorite Classes: Physics (taught by Mr. Canan), and Weaving, where she spun the hair from her dogs to use.

Activities: She spent a lot of time with her horse. Senior year she was in Cross Country and Swim Team.

Alumni Friends: Karen knew Julie Williams.

After High School: Went to Whitman collage in Portland, and then studied in Europe for two years. She joined the Peace Corps for three years, met her husband in Africa, and then came back and got a master in language.

Collage Major: ESL, and MAT at OSU.

The Return to CHS: She was born here, so it was nice to come back. Karen was hired at three elementary schools for ESL. When the high school ESL teacher quite, Karen started teaching and CHS and CV.

ESL: English as a Second Language. Gives students equal opportunities in all their classes. Karen knows five languages: French, German, Spanish, English, and Fulfulde ( an African Language).
