Beyond CHS

PARENTS: Beyond CHS is staffed by more than 40 trained volunteers.  We cannot guarantee acceptance to colleges, but we will help any student as much as possible. Please encourage your student to visit Beyond CHS or their counselor to get the help they need with their career and college plans.  Parents are always welcome in Beyond CHS. 

College Planning Night - see the schedule 

Please mark your calendars for Oct. 1, 2009 for our college planning night at CHS.  We strongly encourage all students (freshmen - seniors) to come with their parents.  We will start with a mini-college fair and are expecting OSU, U of O, WOU, Whitman, Pitzer, Cornell, Lewis & Clark, Reed, Michigan State, Grinnell, PSU, Washington State University, Univerisy of Puget Sound, LBCC, Chemeketa Community College, along with a number of other colleges and universities.  
 
After the college fair, there will be breakout sessions on financial aid, how to get into a select college, the application process, taking a GAP year, honors colleges, LBCC/OSU degree partnership and writing a good essay for college.  Sessions in Spanish will also be offered.  We hope to provide childcare for those needing it.

PSAT - SAT - ACT

The PSAT will be given at CHS on Saturday, Oct. 17 starting at 9:00 am.  Sign ups will begin on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 in Beyond CHS.  Watch for more information regarding the fees in September.  Please encourage any seniors who plan to attend college and have not taken their SAT or ACT to go online and register for an early date in the fall.
