Verbs, present tense -

  1. When talking about yourself or about yourself and somebody else, you use ich, I, or wir, we, with the ich- form or the wir- form of the verb.

    2. Ich spiele. Wir spielen.

  2. When talking about someone else, you use er, he, sie, she, or sie, they, with the er- form, sie- form (singular), or sie- form (plural) of a verb.

Er spielt. Sie spielt. Sie spielen.

3. When addressing someone in German, you must use:

    1. The du- form when addressing one friend, one parent, or one relative.

      2. Was spielst du?

    2. The ihr- form when addressing more then one of the above.

      3. Was spielt ihr?

    3. The Sie- form, or polite form, when adressing your teacher or any adults you don't know well, whether one person or several.
