CRESCENT VALLEY PARENT ORGANIZATION MEETING and PARENT COFFEE

CVPO BUSINESS

 

Meeting began at 11:00 a.m. with welcome and introductions.

 

MINUTES:  The minutes of the February 19, 2009 meeting were accepted.  The Secretary reported that Carolyn Teegarden does not edit the minutes for content as announced in the February meeting, instead she edits for typographical errors and formatting for the CV website.  She does not list the minutes on Listserv either, that is done by Alex Vincent-Hill.  No other business was reported by the Secretary.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  The treasurer reported we have available funds of $3,702.23  which reflect income of $75.11 from E-scrip in February.  No disbursements were made in February 2009.  The Treasurer’s report was accepted.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

FUNDRAISING:  It was reported that Safeway e-scrip monies go to The CVPO account.  All parents who are currently registered with Safeway for E-scrip will need to renew their registrations by August of 2009.  Parents with Albertson’s E-Scrip will also need to renew registrations to benefit the CV Booster Club.

 

CV EXCELLENCE PHOTO CONTEST:  As of this date, no entries have been submitted for the Photo Contest.  The current deadline was to go until March 13th.  A proposal to extend that deadline until April 30th was announced.  All are welcome, students, parents, grandparents- anyone in the CV community to submit photos that exemplify our CV students and staff striving for excellence in all that they do.  Please see the campaign website at www.CVExcellence.org for details.  Please get those cameras out and start clicking now.

 

TEACHER GRANTS:  An amount of $2182.00 has been granted as of YTD.  The committee needs to look at the CVPO ‘s expenses to determine and authorize what amount will be granted to teachers for this spring’s grant cycle.  It was reported from the Corvallis Public School Foundation that 56 grant request were received.  11 of those grants received were submitted from the CV community.  Total amount requested was about $8300.   #3 Grants were fully funded/granted and 1 partially funded/granted for a granted amount of approximately $2400.00.

 

It was also discussed as to what expenses CVPO has and what amount we would rollover for next years budget.  A motion was made to carry over $1000.00, $500.00 of which would be entered into a President’s Fund Account and any amount above and beyond that would be allocated to go to Teacher Grants.  Motion was voted on and passed.

 

 

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

 

DESTINATION IMAGINATION won 1st place in the Regional District Competition.  Four of our students, Lauren Bailey, Marrissa Croft, Stephanie Cleland and Callie Galvin competed as a team for this title. Congratulations to all who were involved.  Go Raiders!!!!!

 

TORF:  Cherie Stroud reported on The Test of Oral Reading and Fluency.  Testing will be done in mid April with our 9th graders.  This is a simple reading test for fluency but shows statistics for comprehension as well.  This test also shows, as students, who might be falling through the cracks with reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension.  Cherie requested that if anyone is interested in helping with the testing, please contact her.

 

CVPO APRIL MTG:  A motion was made and voted on to reschedule the April 2, 2009 CVPO meeting to meet on April 16th, 2009.  Motioned carried and the date of April 16th, 2009 was set for the next CVPO meeting. 

 

PARENT’S COFFEE @ 11:45 a.m. WITH CHERIE STROUD:  Cherie spoke about the Corvallis School District Student Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Survey taken in Fall of 2008-2009 school year.  She discussed concerns in some areas and our successes in other areas.  Cherie asked  “WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH THIS INFORMATION FROM THIS SURVEY?”  Cherie will meet with students to go over the results of this survey and then she will meet with Terrell Ross to discuss plans and writing goals for a School Improvement Plan which will help to improve our student’s Crescent Valley experience.  

 

 

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

SPRING CONFERENCE DINNER will be scheduled for April 9th.  Carol Walsh and Nanette Armstrong are co chairing this event.  Volunteers are being asked to help out.  This will be a Potluck Dinner and donations of food/drinks are requested.   Please contact Nanette Armstrong by email @: nyarmstrong@comcast.net

 

DISTRICT LEADERSHIP MEETING with Fred Kane scheduled for April 15th, 2009@ 11:00a.m. @ Corvallis School District Offices.

 

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY COFFEE-TEA will be scheduled for April 20th @ 6:00p.m.  Kris Trujillo will be chairing this event. Donations of cookies and desserts are requested for this evening event.

 

NO SCHOOL APRIL 9th & 10, 2009 for TEACHER GRADING/CONFERENCES.

 

CVPO MEETING will be scheduled for April 16th @ 11:00a.m. in the Staff Dining  Room.  Parent Coffee with Cherie Stroud will be at 11:45 a.m.  An Evening Parent Coffee with Cherie Stroud will be April 16th @ 5:30 p.m. in the Staff Dining Room.

 

SITE COUNCIL:  Will meet April 21, 2009 @ 3:30p.m. in the CVHS Library.

Site council meets once a month, third Tuesday of each month.  The site council is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
