Checklist for Before You Begin an Internship

1. How much compensation, if any, will you receive? Will you
be paid weekly, monthly, or all at once?
2. If the internship is not near your home, where will you live? Will the
company help you find housing?
3. How many hours per week are you required to work?
4. How long will the internship last?
5. Can you get to the internship from where you are living?
6. Will your high school give you credit for the internship (just an added
bonus, not a necessary thing)?
7. If they gave you a contract, did a knowledgeable adult read it before you
signed it?
8. If the internship is during the school year, does it have the potential to
interfere with your classwork and homework?
9. Finally, will you be doing work you will enjoy and from which you will learn?
