Self-description…

I feel as though I am a fairly understanding, friendly, and outgoing person and I find it easy to communicate and interact with most people. I am not afraid to approach new things or people and am driven towards personal goals. I can be very high strung at times, but easygoing other times.  This versatility allows me to get along with many people. As I am getting older, I have realized that I am also becoming more responsible and independent and am learning how to get things accomplished on my own, although there is still much room for improvement. Words that might describe me are: friendly, outgoing, practical, hardworking, and honest.

Proudest accomplishments…

Overall, maintaining a high GPA is one of my proudest accomplishments. I was never pressured to receive good grades by my parents or family and liked the fact that they gave me this freedom. From this I was able to self-motivate myself and persevere through school for my own self-satisfaction. It would have been easy to not take any challenging classes, but the fact that I chose to do so has made me a stronger individual and most importantly; better prepared for college.

Most meaningful involvement/ activity…

I have played volleyball 7 years altogether and this sport has played a big role in my life. Volleyball had taken up the majority of my time besides being in school. Volleyball has taught me so much and has shaped my personality and has tested my strength as a person. Volleyball is also my way of getting away from any stresses in my life just because I enjoy it so much and can put my whole mind into it and can forget about other things. I have learned teamwork, responsibility, dedication, mental strength, and many other things that I have been able to apply within my everyday life and will be able to take with me in the future. Also, being with a team that share the same amount of passion and dedication makes the experience more intense and our team was able to push each other this past season to a place where we didn’t even think possible. I don’t see how being involved in volleyball has effected me in any sort of negative way at all. Volleyball, for me, is a true passion and has taught me so much.

How I have demonstrated leadership…

I have demonstrated leadership in many various ways in and out of the classroom environment. First off, my most significant leadership involvement was becoming Junior Class President. Through this experience I was able to have an important role as a student and represent my class and my school as well. As a class president, you become a member of CORE Council and get a chance to become involved in many school activities and discuss any issues within our school environment. Also, as Junior Class President, I was the head coordinator of the Junior/ Senior Prom. Planning prom was a long process, which required a variety of leadership skills and organized teamwork. As a senior I am involved with the Mr. CV Fundraising program as a member of the fundraising committee. The fundraising committee is responsible for planning various fundraisers and activities throughout the year to ultimately earn money for The Children's Miracle Network. In addition to being involved with Mr. CV, I am also the student council representative for my advisor group. This means I am a participant in Student Council, but also responsible for sharing the information gained from meetings to my advisor group. As a whole, I feel as though I have a responsibility to try and inform our student body of upcoming events, current school issues, and Mr. CV activities.

Tentative Career Plans…

As of right now I am either attending the University of Colorado at Boulder or the University of Oregon. I plan to major in biology and even possibly psychology and would like to pursue a career in the health field.
