Assignment: Food Choices and Land Required for Your Food (Due January 7)
During the week of December 15-22 (you may pick a different time, but 7 days
of food data must be collected), you will record all the food and
drink that you consume. Then complete and turn in the following.
1. A clear and organized log of all the food and drink you consume. (5 points)
2. A one-page analysis of the level of sustainability of your food choices. In your reflection consider the environmental impact (travel/distance, land use, water use, pollution, packaging waste, food waste, etc) and the impact on humans and on animals. Use resources as necessary to justify your analysis. (10 points)
3.The Food Choices Assignment. (20 points)
4. The Land Required Worksheet. Do your best to fit as much of the food you've consumed onto this chart for the most accurate reading of your land use footprint. (10 points)
The food log, the food reflection, the Land Required Worksheet and the Food Choices Assignment will all be due on January 7th. Be prepared to discuss your results and observations in class on this day.
