Expectations for Water Group
Spring 2008
1. Communicate the “unsustainable practices” you have identified to Mrs. Stroud via email. Ask if there are other individuals that should be contacted (for example, Ellen Trask, the head custodian). Request updates to determine when and if these facilities are fixed.
2. Find out how much water each building uses. If you are not told where the meters are, request the data from the individual meters. Ask Mrs. Stroud to help if your requests are ignored. Develop a way to get monthly updates for each building.
3. Identify and prioritize the other main water uses for inside the building.
4. Start gathering information on water use outside.
5. Gather information on specific water conservation practices used at CHS to see if there are any that can be implemented here.

2. Gather data to see whether your carpooling campaign is effective. Be able to support your conclusion of its success with data.
3. Continue exploring biodiesel use.

5. Develop and implement some type of campus awareness campaign or activity for Earth Week (you could do the tire pressure measuring then).
6. Written summary of work-to-date due April 4, with the final class presentations June 2 & 4.
Expectations for Restoration Group
Spring 2008
1. Create a visual of the entire campus, showing the main areas of interest for restoration. You have these areas identified in text and separate photos in your presentation, but it would be easier to interpret as a single photo or diagram so as to show where things are in relation to each other.
2. Meet with Taylor Bortz and develop a plan of action for restoring the stream. If possible, begin implementing the plan.
3. If she is working on a grant, see if CVHS can be involved. Help write the grant if appropriate.
4. Develop and implement some type of campus awareness campaign or activity for Earth Week.
5. Written summary of work-to-date due April 4, with the final class presentations June 2 & 4.

Expectations for Purchasing Group
Spring 2008
1. Do a cost comparison between the paper we currently purchase and paper with recycled content. Also do a cost comparison for paper that is not as bright or bleached a white as what we currently use. Explore fully the option of moving towards more recycled content paper and/or unbleached paper.
2. Develop ideas for reducing the “reckless printing” that occurs, especially in the library. If possible, implement some of the ideas.
3. Find out the specific information about the cleaners that are used on campus. Mrs. Stroud will help you if you need it.
4. Administer the teacher survey you wrote. Include a question about printing in black and white vs. color, to see if teachers might be convinced to do less color printing. Also include a question about how much printing teachers do at their own printer compared to making multiple copies at a copy machine.
5. Develop and implement some type of campus awareness campaign or activity for Earth Week.
6. Written summary of work-to-date due April 4, with the final class presentations June 2 & 4.
Expectations for Food Group
Spring 2008
1. While there is less meat available on campus (during this “downed cow” episode), explore ideas for reducing meat use on campus. Perhaps conduct a survey to find out if students even miss having the meat items available.
