I joined the horticulture class because I thought it would be a fun, easy class. But I was wrong. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. It was a kind of fun class because it was a lot more hands on learning (which is the way I like to learn) and a lot more social. Were allowed to talk while we worked, which is real cool.
We started with just seeds and put then into there own individual containers to start off our seedlings. We planted lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a lot of them sprouted up in just a couple of days.
Once our seedlings popped up they just kept growing and growing. They got so big we had to think of a plan for our garden plot. We made our plot then started to make our fence first.
We need a fence so people don’t drive in there with their cars and also to keep the deer out. After we get all the poles up and make sure there level can start to plan were we want to plant the plants into the outdoor garden.

What
happened as a result of my service learning activity? I feel the class has taught me to learn in ways I didn’t know I could.

How
what I learned applied to other situations. What I learned in my horticulture class really helped me in the real world. I got a landscaping job due to my horticulture experiences.

Challenges
I faced and how I resolved them. I did face a lot of problems while trying to put up the fence for the garden. Every time I ran into another problem I just sat down and took a breather. I learned to measure twice.
