Introduction to My Portfolio

My portfolio will show you all the things I have done and all the projects that I have worked on, during the time I spent in Service Learning.  I really enjoyed working with others and knowing that I could make a difference in somebody’s life. A few of the things that you will learn about in this portfolio are the horticulture project, Habitat for Humanity, and some of the things I did in between. I hope that by reading this portfolio you will be to go out and make a difference in your community, because after you help out your community you will feel more like a member of your community. You just feel good about yourself and it makes you feel better about yourself.  There are some photos inside to show you some of the things we’ve done, I hope that you will like it.

WHAT I DID FOR MY SERVICE PROJECT

I went to a construction site in town and helped some people build a house for Habitat for Humanity.

WHO I AM AND WHO I HELPED

I am Titus and I helped out the low-income families of our community by building a house for them.

WHAT I LEARNED

I learned that one person could really make a big difference in someone else’s life.

HOW I MADE A DIFFERENCE

I made a difference by going in every Wednesday and helped build a house.  The more people we had at the site the more we got done that day.

Oregon Community Education Presentation

On April 29th of 2004 my class and I went to Eugene to give a presentation on Service Learning.  This included power point presentations from all the students and the teachers.  We presented to a few teachers and people representing different school districts from all over Oregon. There were also a few students from around the area.

Presentation Reflection

On the way to Eugene I wasn’t really excited about presenting to a bunch of adults I didn’t know.   After the presentation I thought to myself that it wasn’t that bad after all, and I was actually happy that I did it. The main reason I was happy was because a lot of the adults who were there were very interested in what we had to say.  They had a lot of questions for us and were really curious about the Service Learning projects.
