How do I order a Science Kit?
In the spring you can order Science Kits by filling out the CIMC Hands On Science form (available from CIMC) to schedule kits for the next school year. Kits can also be ordered by email or by calling Sharon McMurray at 757-5923. Sorry, we don't have online ordering yet
C.I.M.C. will order the live materials needed for your kit. Check the order confirmation form for the shipping date of your live materials. Live materials are shipped via U.S. Postal Express on Mondays and arrive in your building on Wednesday.
If you decided NOT to use this kit, the C.I.M.C. requires a FOUR WEEK notice of cancellation in order to stop shipments from our supplier. Otherwise, YOUR SCHOOL will be responsible for the cost of the live materials shipment.
What if the Live Materials arrive D.O.A.?
- Save any packing list.
- Call Sharon McMurray, x5923, and report any D.O.A.'s within 48 hours of receipt. Replacements can be shipped within a week of notification.
- Cost of replacement after two days becomes the responsibility of the teacher.
PLEASE NOTE: Delta ships a few more organisms than you will need for your activities. If some are dead on arrival, be sure to count the remaining organisms to determine if you have enough for your activities before calling for replacement.
What if I'm
not finished with my kit when it is due back at CIMC?
Call Sharon at 757-5923 and see about extending your time with the kit. Remember, others are waiting to use the kit also. If you are in the middle of the last lesson, or the plants are still growing, or you've become attached to your favorite crayfish, give Sharon a call about keeping some items a little longer.
Please clean items before repacking and returning your kit. Don't worry about getting the same item back into the same blue tub. As long as all items are cleaned and returned to the CIMC we're happy! Don't forget to return the Teacher's Guide, The Teacher's Preparation Video and any Oversized Items (posters, large trays, KNEX kit, etc.)
What can I
throw away when I'm done and what do I return?
It depends on the kit. Most plastic items we can re-use many times, this includes plastic cups, plastic containers, and even plastic bags can be used several times. Throw away any plastic that is broken, paper cups, paper towels, and used plastic straws. Call Sharon at 757-5923 if you have any questions about what to keep and what to throw away.
