Frequently Asked Questions

How do I order a Science Kit?

Book your science kit online using Ibistro, the library online catalog.  Please carefully follow the district schedule.  If you need help, call Kim McIntyre at 757-5923.

What about Live Materials?

C.I.M.C. will order the live materials needed for your kit.  Live materials are shipped   on Mondays and arrive in your building on Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you decided NOT to use this kit, the C.I.M.C. requires a FOUR WEEK notice of cancellation in order to stop shipments from our supplier.  Otherwise, YOUR SCHOOL will be responsible for the cost of the live materials shipment.

What if the Live Materials arrive D.O.A.?

  • Save any packing list.
  • Call Kim McIntyre, x5923, and report any D.O.A.'s within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Cost of replacement after two days becomes the responsibility of the teacher.

PLEASE NOTE:  Delta ships a few more organisms than you will need for your activities.  If some are dead on arrival, be sure to count the remaining organisms to determine if you have enough for your activities before calling for replacement.

What if I'm not finished with my kit when it is due back at CIMC?

Call Kim McIntyre at 757-5923 and see about extending your time with the kit. You cannot renew a kit online.   Remember, others may be waiting to use the kit

What do I do when I'm done?

Please clean items before repacking and returning your kit.  Don't worry about getting the same item back into the same blue tub.  As long as all items are cleaned and returned to the CIMC, we're happy!  Don't forget to return the Teacher's Guide, The Teacher's Preparation Video and any Oversized Items (posters, large trays, KNEX kit, etc.).  Please return all kits tubs/materials together at the same time.  If items are broken, please include a note telling us.

What can I throw away when I'm done and what do I return?

It depends on the kit. The inventory list included in the teacher's guide notes what items are consumables.   Most plastic items and even plastic bags can be used several times.  Throw away any plastic that is broken, paper cups, paper towels, and used plastic straws.  Call Kim at 757-5923 if you have any questions about what to keep and what to throw away.
