CIS Connections
CIS Connection is a way for local businesses and organizations to put information about who they are and what they do in front of local students and their parents. This allows students to put a “real world” face on their potential careers; through CIS Connection, they can take a look around Corvallis and see exactly where people work in the jobs that interest them. There is no fee whatsoever to any business or organization that wants to be a CIS partner. To see which local employers are CIS Connection partners, click here:
Each
participating employer gets a CIS Connection web page on which
they can post information about their business or organization,
including a link to their own website, a description of their
business and its mission, a list of positions that they hire,
the skills they most desire in employees, and their logo.
Through career learning activities in the schools, students are
steered toward these pages.
A second
part of CIS Connection is the chance for local employers to give
students a first-hand look at occupations and the working world.
If a business or organization chooses, it can join a volunteer
database that school staff can consult to arrange guest
speakers, job shadows, mock job interviews and other career
learning opportunities. The employer can choose the activities
in which it would be comfortable participating, and can also
list the specifics (size of group, amount of advance notice, age
of participants, etc.) for their involvement.
