Nutrition Web Links

Health and Nutrition are very important to our Department. There are many valuable and informative web sites that are helpful and educational. Please realize that these links are for informational purposes and we are not responsible for their content. However, we feel that providing these links leads to better awareness of nutrition and healthy choices. We will add new links as we continue to research and build this site. Check back frequently to see what we have added.

What's New - this section lists links that show what is new in the realm of Food and Nutrition, especially as it applies to the Corvallis School District, such as Franklin Elementary receiving the prestigious Oregon Wellness Award.

Farm to School - listed here are links to information regarding the Farm to School projects that many districts in the nation are attempting to incorporate into their programs. The difficulty in fully utilizing local farms and their produce is due to cost, quantity, and availability. The key to success in this area is through developing good communication with local growers and using what produce we can according to the cost structures we must use.

Kids Corner. These sites give children a fun way to learn about nutrition and healthy eating. Wonderful animated characters lead children through interactive lessons that teach children in ways they will remember and excite them about eating nutritionally.

Family Everyday - These links take you to some good articles on healthy eating. Each link highlights a different subject.

Educational Sites - These informative links are designed for more educational purposes. The content is usually more technical with the primary focus on "Why" and "How" to eat more nutritionally.  Teachers, Home-School parents and people who want to know more, will hopefully find these links beneficial.

Recipes - Here we will list recipes that we find unusually good that we want to share with you. Keep checking, we will add more.
