May 2011 Listening Session:

BACKGROUND:   Information was shared or written input provided by interested parents.  From the analysis of the input, it was evident that there was a continued need for communication opportunities during the 2011-2012 school year.  There were several recurring themes that were identified during the evening.

ACTION PLAN:  Summary information was shared with the School Board.  Four Open Session opportunities were planned throughout the school year to address topics generated from the Listening Session.  The purpose of the Open Sessions are to provide basic information along with opportunity for questions and answers.  Please see the topics listed below.

RESULTS:  The first Open session was held on September 20 , 2011 with the topic of Life Skills.  The power-point presentation is posted below on the calendar announcement.

NEXT STEPS:  The second Open session will be held on October 20, 2011 at Western View Center.  The evening topic will be:  Response to Intervention (RTI), Pre-Referral and Referral to Eligibility.  The upcoming dates are posted below and meeting notices will also be posted on the Special Education Parent Listserv.


 

Special Education Open Sessions for 2011/2012

Thank you to all who participated in the May 2011 Corvallis School District Special Education Listening Session.  From the public and written input provided by that evening, the 2011-2012 Special Education Open Sessions have been scheduled in collaboration with Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) to provide follow-up, topic driven opportunities for further open-dialogue. 

We cordially invite you to attend our Open Sessions.  The next session will be October 20, 2011 and the topic will be: Response to Intervention (RTI), Pre-referral, Referral to Service and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
