Top Resources For Teachers and Parents

  • National Association for Gifted Children

    Highly recommended for parents and teachers, the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) is an organization of parents, teachers, educators, other professionals, and community leaders who unite to address the unique needs of children and youth with demonstrated gifts and talents as well as those children who may be able to develop their talent potential with appropriate educational experiences.  Their website has something for everyone: position papers that are succinct and important, lists of gifts for kids, opportunities, books, and much more.
  • American Association for Gifted Children

    Based in Durham, NC,  the American Association for Gifted Children is the nation's oldest advocacy organization for gifted children, established in the late 1940's.  Their website, while fairly compact, has some great articles  for teachers and parents of TAG kids.  In addition to publishing a newsletter there times yearly,  the AAGC plays a role in the Presidential Scholar's Program which every year recongnizes 141 outstanding high school graduates nationwide..  Last year, 7 recipients of this prestigious award were from the Corvallis 509J district.

    The Center for Gifted Education is a learning community that values and fosters the talent development process of individuals over their lifespan.  Primarily focused on professional development for teachers of gifted children, CFGE is located in in the College of William and Mary's School of Education, in Williamsburg, VA.

    The Center for Talent Development is another organization that fosters the growth of TAG students through summer programs and enrichment seminars.  Check out their resources page for a great selection of articles on varous topics in gifted education.
