Step 1:
Plan & Focus
Ask yourself...
- What am I learning about?
- What is my assignment?
- What is my interest?
- What do I know about it?
- What do I want to know?
Step 2:
Find Out ~ Locate ~ Gather
Ask yourself...
- Where will I get the information?
- Who could I ask?
- What sources could I check? (Books, magazines, library, TV/video, computer, Internet)
- What source(s) would be best?
- Have I gathered enough of the right information to move ahead?
Step 3:
Organize
Write it down ...
- Note-taking: write on cards or in notebook
- Draw, label parts, use vocabulary
- Put information in my own words
- Write bibliography
Step 4:
Interpret ~ Analyze
Think about it...
- Categorize (fact, fiction, opinion)
- Summarize and draw conclusions
- Are there additional questions I need to ask?
Step 5:
Report Findings
Ask yourself...
- Depending on the info I've gathered and my intended audience, what will my finished product look like?
- What technology will I use?
Step 6:
Assess ~ Reflect
Ask yourself...
- What did I learn?
- Did I answer my question or solve my problem?
- What do I like about my product?
- What will I do differently next time?
- Use criteria and/or scoring guide when appropriate
Throughout the Process:
Ethical & Legal
Ask yourself...
- Is the work my own?
- Did I credit my sources?
- Did I respect the ideas of others?
- Was I a responsible user of technology and other resources?
- Did I collaborate and contribute to group processes?
- Did I share tools and resources with others?
