How do I order a Science Kit?
Your kits will be ordered for you and will arrive at your school according to the district master schedule. You and other members of your school's grade-level PLC group will have the same kit at the same time to facilitate planning. Everyone will have their own kit – please do not mix up materials from more than one kit.
What about Live Materials?
C.I.M.C. will order the live materials needed for your kit. You will receive an email from CIMC with the dates your live materials are scheduled to arrive. Live materials are shipped via UPS or FedEx on Mondays and usually arrive in your building on Tuesday or Wednesday.
If you decide NOT to use a kit with live materials, the C.I.M.C. requires a FOUR WEEK notice of cancelation in order to stop shipments from our supplier. Otherwise, YOUR SCHOOL will be responsible for the cost of the live materials shipment.
What if the Live Materials arrive D.O.A.?
*Save any packing list.
*Call Kim McIntyre, 541-757-5923, and report any D.O.A.'s within 24 hours of receipt. Replacements can be shipped within a week of notification.
*Cost of replacement after two days becomes the responsibility of the teacher.
What if I'm not finished with my kit when it is due back at CIMC?
Call Kim McIntyre at 541-757-5923 and ask about extending the due date. If you are in the middle of the last lesson, the plants are still growing, or you've become attached to your favorite crayfish, give Kim a call about keeping the kit a little longer. Remember, others may be waiting to use the kit..
What do I do when I'm done?
Please clean and dry all items before re-packing your science tub. Labeled bags are provided to make packing easier. Be sure to include a note with any broken items. Don't forget to return the Teacher's Guide (make sure all pages are in the binder), the Teacher's Preparation Video, and any oversized Items (posters, large trays, etc.). Please write "R" on the shipping label to designate RETURN. All tubs, book kits and oversize items should be kept together and returned to CIMC at the same time.
What can I throw away when I'm done and what do I return?
Please return all permanent and all remaining consumable materials to CIMC. The inventory sheet inside the teacher's guide designates which items are consumable. Most plastic items can be re-used many times; this includes plastic cups, plastic containers, and even plastic bags. Throw away any plastic that is broken, paper cups, paper towels, and used plastic straws. Aquarium gravel cannot be reused. Call Kim at 541-757-5923 if you have any questions about what to keep and what to throw away.
