Opportunities For Students

Did you know that there are many opportunities for TAG children to participate in fast paced, enriched learning programs in Oregon?  There are courses both on and off of university campuses.  Here are a few of them! 

The Gifted and Talented Academy

The gifted and Talented Academy is the new premiere educational summer camp for advanced learners located in Springfield, Oregon.
Our Mission:
To enhance the Knowledge of students through Project Based Learning, Peer to Peer, Direct Instruction, and On the Job Training. To promote Vision through teaching students to take their dreams and visions and turn them in to reality. Enhance learning through all technology and to create quality leaders who will take ownership in their work. 
** The camp is held on a local university campus and is for grades 6th - 11th. 
** The Leadership Course is for age 17 - 19+.
**

Session one beginning July 2014 TBA
** We are residential and non-residential camp. Payment options are available for families.

Oregon State University

STEM Academy AWSEM (Advocates for Women in Science, Engineering, and Math) Clubs for 6th-12th grade girls.

** Middle School Club meets Tuesdays, 5:00-6:30 pm, from January 21 - February 25, 2014.
** High School Club meets Wednesdays, 5:00-6:30 pm, from January 22 - February 26, 2014

Topics this year will include physics, K'NEX engineering challenge, anatomy, computing, information evaluations & visualization, and chemistry.  Undergraduate women studying science at OSU will lead and be mentors for the clubs. To register, please visit http://academy.engr.oregonstate.edu

Programs for TAG and High-Ability Students at Oregon State University
Mondays through Fridays, July, 2014 TBA
Applications are still being accepted for Oregon State University’s Precollege Programs for TAG and High-Ability Youth. These programs offer a unique opportunity for academic enrichment and social interaction with peers of similar abilities. Participants choose from a wide selection of exciting, challenging, and stimulating courses not typically available in the usual school setting. Courses are designed to meet the special needs of enrolled learners and are taught by experts in their fields.  Qualified students are those who are identified as TAG or have a total battery test score at or above the 90th percentile.

Se aceptan las solicitudes para los programas preuniversitarios de Oregon State University para los jóvenes de TAG y de alta habilidad.
