CCSS Resources

Several Web sites and publications are available to help you learn more about how the standards were developed, why they were developed, and what the specific standards are for each grade level:

The ODE has an entire section of its Web site dedicated to Common Core State Standards. A multitude of resources are available for parents, students, teachers, administrators, school boards, and for local businesses and community members. For a quick overview, check out the Common Core State Standards Fact Sheet

Common Core State Standards Initiative
A collection of resources gathered by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), the two organizations which led the effort to develop Common Core State Standards.

March 2011 article published by Education Northwest spotlighting the Common Core State Standards.

An excellent site where you’ll find a Parents Guide for Student Success with links to a four-page brochure for each grade level which describes:

Key items your child will learn in language arts and math once the standards are fully implemented

Activities that parents can do at home to support your child’s learning

Topics of discussion for talking to your child’s teacher about his or her academic progress

For your convenience, links to these brochures are posted in the menu to the right.
