The primary role of the Corvallis School Board is to establish policies and programs which will promote student learning and prepare students for life after graduation. This is accomplished in partnership with the schools superintendent and district staff who implement policies and programs, and through sound fiscal management of the district’s resources.

Community involvement: Board and executive committee member of Corvallis-OSU Symphony, board member and program director of Chamber Music Corvallis and have presented several programs at the Academy for Lifelong Learning (on music, life in the Foreign Service, the financial crisis in Europe, and North Korea).
Family: Wife, Kathleen, two grown children and a daughter who is a sophomore at Corvallis High School.
Hobbies/special interests: Playing the piano, going to concerts, reading, hiking in the mountains.

Community involvement: Served on the Corvallis School District Budget Committee and Special Education Advisory Committee; member of the Mid-Valley Bicycle Club, Willamette Valley Bicycle Team and the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association.
Family: Wife, Rebecca, and two children attending Cheldelin Middle School.
Hobbies/special interests: Reading, bicycling, Kinetic Sculpture racing, watching OSU football and soccer games.
