Cheetah assembly

Students at Jefferson Elementary School recently got a close-up look at a 6-year-old cheetah named Taini from Wildlife Safari, a zoological park in Winston, Ore.

The schoolwide assembly was the “grand finale” to a series of classroom lessons about endangered species presented by retired teacher Jacqueline Barrington. Barrington is an enthusiastic wildlife conservation advocate -- especially when it comes to cheetahs -- after two trips to Africa where she saw firsthand the efforts of the Cheetah Conservation Research Centre in Namibia.
