CV Ropes Outing

About a dozen teens from Crescent Valley High School were “on the ropes” recently --  a reward for meeting personal and academic goals in a new outdoor education/leadership mentoring program started by CV counselor Joni Randall.

The group spent an entire day at the Oregon State University Ropes Course warming up and building trust on the low ropes, then progressing to more challenging high ropes exercises. “A strong and bonded group is very necessary to be the best community leaders they can be,” Randall explained. “The ropes course is another way to solidify that bond and assist them in learning to work as a team so that they can do great things and belong to a meaningful group that is involved in positive events and decisions.

Throughout the year, the freshmen and sophomores enrolled in the program are volunteering with a number of community organizations and participating in various projects at CV including creek cleanup, litter patrol and designing window coverings for classroom windows.
