Parents & Kids? Kids dropped off will be fine. However, parent involvement will be a plus.

Teams? Costs?  Team is yet to be formed. From each school we can have maximum 8 participants (a school team can have 4 students--remaining 4 will be competing individually. To learn more, go to http://mathcounts.org/ (including COSTS of registration).

What is it and what grades is it for? MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement. Though challenging and non-routine, the competition problems focus on the 6th through 8th grade standards of the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics. MATHCOUNTS provides the materials for students to use as they prepare for the competition series. Participants then advance through School, Chapter and State Competitions until the final 228 students are selected from fifty-seven states and territories to advance to the Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition held in May 2009.

PTA involvement? We help get the word out. We are not supporting registration fees for this or any other competitive events as the number of kids that can be reached by PTA dollars is too small to be justified. There are scholarships available through PTA funds for those parents/children who need them. They can make a request directly with Gail Eby to access funds set aside for scholarship by the PTA for field trips and registration fees.
