Mission Statement:
Our innovative and caring community is dedicated to diversity, lifelong learning and high expectations for all.

Philosophy:
Lincoln is a child-centered school. Our focus is on our students and meeting all of their learning needs. Our aim is to provide rich and relevant content within meaningful and engaging contexts in developmentally appropriate ways. We offer appropriate and challenging learning opportunities to enable students to competently and confidently demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding within all contexts within and outside of the school setting.

Academic Programs:
We are committed to academic success for ALL of our students in all subject areas. Each student is involved in individual goal setting with the support of his/her parents and teachers, and personal education plans are monitored and evaluated on an on-going basis. Because we are a Title 1 Schoolwide Program school, we are able to utilize instructional resources and personnel to provide small-group and individual attention to students in basic skills and higher order thinking. We support our students' social and emotional learning with the help of a counselor and a family services coordinator. Additionally, due to an incredibly generous gift from an anonymous donor, we now have a state-of-the-art computer/technology lab.

Parent/Community Involvement:

  • Lincoln is fortunate to have a variety of auxiliary programs housed on site that allow us to be a full-service community school.
  • They include Lincoln's School-Based Health Clinic, Kidco Head Start, and CAEC After School program.
  • CAEC provides afterschool enrichment and care for students in K-5th grade.
  • CAEC also provides summer enrichment for k-5 students with LOTS of field trips!
  • We host the SMART Book and Reading Program that incorporates approximately 50 volunteers on a weekly basis.
  • Parents coordinate the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Program that distributes free books to students at least three times a year.
  • Various groups give us their time each year including players on the OSU football team as well as many other education students and student-teaching interns.
  • Community members donate their time as "Lunch Buddies" and "Homework Club" tutors and mentors.
  • We participate in Wildlife Stewards - a program through OSU Extension that offers nature experiences for kids.
  • In addition, we have an active Parent Group that supports Lincoln School in many ways such as by funding assemblies, sponsoring our master gardener program and RIF book give-aways, hosting our annual "Hands-On Fair," and providing funds for health supplies and other student/family needs.
  • People who know Lincoln tell us that its atmosphere of inclusiveness, friendliness and acceptance of diversity make it truly a neighborhood community school.

Quote: "Why might a family choose Lincoln?  I have such a feeling of pride knowing my children are not just part of a school, but are part of a community. At Lincoln School they are gaining valuable life skills that they will carry throughout their lives."
