Reminder about last day of school

June 5, 2009 04:56 PM

The last day of school is Wednesday, June 10. Elementary and middle school students will be released two hours early, while high school students remain for a full day of instruction. Lunch will be available to all students before they go home.

Students in elementary school will be released at 12:35 p.m. Buses will arrive to pick up students at Cheldelin and Linus Pauling Middle School at 1:30 p.m. Eighth graders, however, are being dismissed at 11 a.m. if they have their own transportation.

Crescent Valley High school students will go home at 3:05 p.m. and Corvallis High School students will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m.

The district’s original calendar indicated Thursday, June 11 would be the last day of school. But mid-year budget adjustments, including a calendar change, were made in response to a shortfall in state funding. The district did not make up two snow closure days and an early release day on May 20 was canceled. Changing the last day of school to Wednesday resulted in additional cost savings – a decision supported by all employee groups even though it meant a pay cut for every district employee.
