Chess players earn all-star recognition

A number of students in the chess clubs at Hoover and Mountain View elementary schools, Cheldelin Middle School and Crescent Valley High School have been named to the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation's Winter All-Stars list.
All-star recognition is reserved for the top 10 active scholastic chess players in the state at each grade level.
Corvallis' all-star students are: Kevin Dai (Hoover), Carson Denison (CMS), Paul Denison (Mountain View), Ian Dickson (CMS), Evan Koovman (Mountain View), John Ornes (Mountain View), Neal Ornes (Mountain View), Leonardo Sun (Hoover), Maxwell Sun (Hoover), Ricky Thierheimer (CVHS) and Yang Yan (CMS).
