Trevor Flaherty of Gearhart (Ore.) has been hired as the new assistant principal at Linus Pauling Middle School, according to human resources director Jennifer Duvall. Flaherty succeeds David Jakious, who has accepted a position as an elementary school principal in the Meridian School District in Eagle, Idaho.
Flaherty served as assistant principal at Broadway Middle School in Seaside (Ore.) the past three years. He also has nine years' experience as a teacher at Independence (Ore.) Elementary School and Inza Wood Middle School in West Linn (Ore.).
A 1999 graduate of Western Oregon University with a bachelor's degree in education, Flaherty earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Portland State University in 2007.
"Trevor comes to us highly recommended in terms of his leadership abilities and the way he connects with students," Duvall said. "He is proactive, a strong supporter of staff, a great bilingual communicator and he has a good sense of humor. We are happy to welcome him and his family to Corvallis."
Flaherty will assume his duties on July 1.
